A day at the sea: Doris' unforgettable dream vacation on the North Sea

Doris, whose name has been changed for personal reasons, traveled to the North Sea with her daughter to relive memories of previous holidays. The day began with the wish car team picking her up from her retirement home and taking her to Sankt Peter-Ording, a place she had once visited with her grandson.

Although the wind was blowing strongly on the North Sea and the weather was unpleasant, Doris didn't let it spoil her mood. Wrapped in a blanket, she enjoyed the view of the sea through the window of a restaurant as she warmed up with rice pudding and coffee. After the restaurant visit, the wish car took Doris and her daughter to the Eider Barrier. There they observed breeding black-headed gulls, which reminded Doris of previous visits to this picturesque landscape. In Büsum they then enjoyed coffee and cake with a view of the mudflats, and the day ended with a fantasy trip in which Doris dreamed of a hike on the mudflats.

A mudflat hike in Sankt Peter-Ording would certainly have been an intensive experience for Doris. During the tour, mudflat guides explain different ways of life in the mudflats, and children can also use small sieves to fish for shrimps, crabs and other sea creatures.
