On July 6, 2025, the Ruhr area will be transformed into a blooming paradise. On this day, the “Offene Gartenpforte Ruhrgebiet” opens, where various private gardens, community projects and urban gardens are made accessible to the public. The aim of this event is to give visitors insights into garden spaces that are otherwise hidden behind hedges and fences. This reports Bochum tourism.
The gardens that can be visited on this day are diverse and include small, intensively designed urban oases, enchanted courtyards, extensive natural areas and hillside gardens. In addition, perennial, rose and romantic gardens as well as natural gardens are part of this special event. These gardens not only offer places of retreat, but also sources of inspiration for garden lovers.
Event highlights
The “Open Garden Gate” enables personal encounters and exchange between garden owners and visitors. Guided tours of the gardens are offered and there is the opportunity to talk to garden lovers and gain insights into sustainable projects. These activities are a valuable opportunity to learn more about the diversity and care of gardens.
The event is also part of the IGA 2027 participatory project “My Garden” and is part of the Environmental Weeks 2025 in Duisburg. It therefore represents a continuation of the “Day of Open Gardens Duisburg” and illustrates the region's commitment to a sustainable and environmentally conscious garden culture Duisburg.de informed.
