Big final concert of the Bochum Music School: Sounds of Passion!
On Sunday, June 1st, the final concert of the Bochum Music School will take place in the Anneliese Brost Musikforum Ruhr. The concert starts at 6 p.m. Former members of the youth symphony orchestra and other music enthusiasts have joined forces to form a large symphony orchestra. Bochum Tourism reports that the ticket prices for the concert are 18 and 15 euros, reduced tickets cost 9 and 8 euros.
Tickets are available at the concert box office in the Musikforum and at Bochum Marketing at Huestrasse 9. On this special occasion, pianist Barbara Squinzani, who teaches at the Bochum Music School and the Robert Schumann University in Düsseldorf, will appear as a soloist. She will play the Piano Concerto by Maurice Ravel and the concert will begin with “Valses nobles et sentimentales” by the same composer, conducted by Norbert Koop.
Diverse program
The varied program also includes the ballet music for “Romeo and Juliet” by Sergei Prokofiev. This concert marks a highlight of the musical year and offers a stage for the commitment and talent of the participants.
The Youth Symphony Orchestra of the Hannover Music School is equally active in promoting music, and gave a concert in the Herrenhausen Gallery in July 2023. We are currently looking for new players, especially those who are already advanced players in playing an orchestral instrument. Rehearsals take place regularly on Thursdays from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the main building of the music school at Maschstrasse 22-24.
The orchestra is directed by Marcus Sundermeyer and supported by a team of instrumental teachers. The line-up changes every year, as many members leave music school after graduating from high school. Hannover.de reports from the orchestra's participation in the German Youth Orchestra Prize of the “Jeunesses Musicales” in 2015, where it was nominated for its concept at the MusikEXPO 2015 and won second prize in the final federal competition.
The continuous reviews of concerts from previous years, especially the 2021/22 and 2022/23 seasons, illustrate the commitment and achievements of the orchestra, which would like to continue to support talented young musicians.
