A newly released “Smarter Travel Report” from Skyscanner presents strategies for how travelers can book cheap flights in summer 2025. Despite ongoing inflation, summer vacation remains an important goal for many Germans. The report, published on May 14, 2025, offers practical tips to reduce travel costs.
A key note is that Thursday is the best day for flights, with an average price of 383 euros. In contrast, ticket prices are highest on Tuesday and Wednesday. If you can handle it flexibly, you should consider calendar week 27 (beginning of July); Here the average price for return flights is just 282 euros. To save even more, June and September are the cheapest times to fly.
Popular travel destinations and new features
A survey shows that 56% of travelers prefer quieter destinations, while 38% want to travel outside of peak season. Skyscanner's new functions are also intended to encourage rethinking: The “Drops” feature informs users about price drops, while the price alarm function notifies users about falling prices for saved desired destinations.
