Art for the future: Students show their works in Hanoi!
On May 16, 2025, the art exhibition “Every Painting is a Story” opened in Hanoi. Chaired by Ms. Jung In Young, President of Greensum Hanoi Fine Arts Academy, numerous representatives from educational and art organizations came together. Guests included Mr. Song Jong Ha, Director of Aon Vina Company, as well as various principals and art professionals, who highlighted the importance of the exhibition.
Featuring nearly 300 works by students aged 6 to 17 and portfolio works by former students, the exhibition showcases a wide range of talent and artistic techniques. Exhibiting genres include hand-drawn paintings, combined materials and models. The artworks showcase the creative side of the young artists and invite visitors to discover the stories behind the images.
Art education in focus
A central element of the exhibition was a talk show on May 18, with the theme “How much have we learned about art education?” picked up. The panel included notable participants such as painter Nguyen Tuan Dung and lecturer Vu Dinh Tuan. They discussed the role of the fine arts in modern education and changing societal attitudes toward art.
The event also offered an exchange with Greensum Hanoi alumni who are now studying at renowned art universities. The conversations revolved around important topics such as the learning process, portfolio building, applying for studies abroad and exam pressure. Organizers highlighted the crucial role of arts education in creative thinking and personal development.
Sustainable impacts and accompanying programs
Although the official exhibition ended on May 20, 2025, the effects can be assessed as lasting. In addition to the exhibition, art experience activities such as workshops and personal consultations were also offered, allowing visitors to experience and explore the topic of art on different levels.
In Germany, art education is viewed in a broader historical context that includes many actors and developments. According to the Federal Agency for Civic Education, schools, museums, cultural institutions and private artists are essential components of art education. These institutions have the task of promoting art as a tool for personal and social inclusion and for the development of skills with a view to the labor market. The need for self-reflection and theoretical foundation in art education has become clear through various discussions in recent years.
In recent decades in particular, there has been a renaissance in arts education, which is closely linked to social inclusion and a critical examination of cultural norms. The debates about the Western European-North American canon of images reflect the challenges that art education faces in a globalized society. This makes initiatives like the Greensum Hanoi Fine Arts Academy, which offer young talents a platform to tell their voices and stories in the field of art, all the more important.
