How do I get here

The only way to get to Leven Canyon Walk is with her own means of transport. This is because there are no public transport on this route.

If you come from Devonport or Launceston, you should take the Casta Road towards Nietta. From here you take the Loongana Road to the viewpoint. The road is paved up to the junction and well maintained. Here it is only a short piece of unpaved road to get to the picnic area. Regardless of this, this road is quite well graded and you can cope with every vehicle type.

The Leven Canyon Lookout Walk

Hiking route: 1.9 km circular path
Duration: 1 hour
meter of altitude: 149 meters
difficulty: Simple

The Leven Canyon Lookout Walk is classified as fairly simple. The path is very well maintained and if you first go clockwise to the cruickshanks viewpoint, avoid really steep climbs. However, note that the descent from the cruickshaks outline of the EDGE out of view is quite steep and includes many levels. If you don't like this, you can run to the Cruickshak's viewpoint and simply return to the parking lot on the same path.

However,

I strongly recommend running the entire round. It is a very picturesque hike that walks through rich forest grounds with many beautiful fern trees.

The Cruickshanks Lookout above the Leven Canyon

The first section of this round loop leads to the CRUICKSHANKS viewpoint, the main viewpoint above the gorge. From here you will receive an aerial view of the Leven river and see how he carved a deep gorge from the mountain slope. It is really one of the wildest viewpoints in Tasmania, and it is simply incredible to reach it in less than 15 minutes.

There is a short viewing platform that extends over the gorge. Here you get a look at this dramatic landscape and have the opportunity to take some great photos.
