Mawun Beach Kuta Lombok is one of the most picturesque beaches you will find on the Indonesian island of Lombok. This beach, which is also known as Pantai Mawun, is a wide bay with white sand that drops into deep, protected turquoise water.

For those looking for an epic beach to escape the madness of Kuta Lombok, grab your two wheels and drive to the Mawun Beach Kuta Lombok!

Mawun Beach is about 20 minutes from the heart of Kuta Lombok. The best way to get here is to rent a motorcycle in Kuta Lombok and drive here. We paid 50,000 Rupiah a day for a good scooter from the friendly owner of our host family.

The best way to find Mawun Beach is to simply enter "Pantai Mawun" or "Mawun Beach" in Google Maps and let Google lead there. For the sake of simplicity, I added a Mawun Beach Lombok card below.

In terms of the clear direction of Kuta Lombok to Mawun Beach, you only have to start driving on JL. Mawun, which you can find at the intersection next to the Living Room Hostel on the main restaurant of Kuta Lombok. This paved road is quite well maintained and has only a few potholes that need to be avoided.

From here it goes on to the windy mountain roads, past some viewpoints and the Kuta Lombok bat cave (Bangkang cave) before descending at sea level, where they see a small sign that indicates the Mawun beach.

As most beaches in the area, Mawun Beach Kuta Lombok demands a small entry fee of 10,000 Rupiah per motorcycle. This is pretty standard all along the line.

When you arrive, you have several options where you can park your motorcycle. Find a shady spot and go down to the sandy beach. There are a few warning that will be happy to have your motorcycle parked for free because you have already paid 10,000 Rupiah entry fee.

Pantai Mawun is a wide bay with deep blue water that is perfect for swimming. Since the bay is rather protected by the land tongues, there is little waves in the middle. However, there is still a spot at the eastern tip (more on that later).

I was honestly shocked how empty Mawun Beach was. Apart from a few children who sold bracelets and some older local women who worked in the warning, I was the only soul on the beach.

In fact, I found that this was my general experience when I traveled Lombok. As soon as we were no less than 5 minutes away from the main stroke, the entire island opened for a raw, local travel experience.

A regular place on Indonesian beaches are piles of plastic waste. It is a universal problem that may have been reinforced by the high -contrast beauty of this beautiful place. Before I set off to make a few snapshots and to fly the drone, I was inevitably approached by a 9-year-old wristband seller who spoke fluently English, Bahasa, Spanish and Indonesian. I convinced him to help myself collect two large plastic bags and bought him in return for 20,000 rupiah.

Mawun beach roasting

If you are looking for the best surf beaches in South Lombok, Mawun is probably not the right beach for you. However, there is a surfbreak on the Mawun Beach on the east side near the headland. The Surfspot Mawun Beach is usually not the best place for beginners because they have to paddle a little to a Reef Break. However, if you are looking for a quiet place, a visit is worthwhile, especially if you are already traveling to the more well -known beaches of Mawi or Selong Balanak.
