Rügen: Holiday paradise for digital nomads and family vacationers!

Rügen, the largest island in Germany, captivates both tourists and locals with its diverse offering. Numerous families are currently enjoying unforgettable holidays in this contrasting region, which offers both luxurious seaside resorts and tranquil places with historic, thatched farmhouses. It is precisely this mixture that makes the island so attractive ZDF reports.

One example is Angela Z.'s family from Thuringia, who stays overnight in a bungalow in a former GDR company holiday camp. The family atmosphere and the absence of the Internet encourage face-to-face conversations and ensure a return to simpler pleasures. Nearby natural beaches also offer the opportunity to relax in untouched nature.

Holiday activities and infrastructure

A large number of beach chairs are unloaded every day on the popular beach promenade in Binz and are available to holidaymakers. Meanwhile, young hoteliers like Julika and Jonay Franke venture into the holiday rental business and open a beach bar. Despite the high investments in Binz's beach location, there are high expectations that these will pay off financially.

But the challenges should not be underestimated. Szymon H. runs a small cleaning company and a restaurant, but faces the difficulty of paying his employees more than the minimum wage of 14.25 euros. As a result, it is becoming increasingly difficult to find German employees; Polish employees, on the other hand, are willing to work here because of the wages.

A new workspace for digital nomads

An innovative project in the region is the conversion of a ruined hotel into a co-working space with a view of the lagoon water. Hannes T. implemented this idea to create a favorable environment for location-independent workers. Here digital nomads, like web designer Sven B., find the opportunity to work and learn in peace. Regular visits from such workers show that Rügen is also becoming increasingly popular as a place for creative work.

Loud ruegen.de Rügen was described not only as a holiday destination, but also as a place of longing where people can experience the beauty of nature and the variety of leisure options. With over six million overnight stays per year, the tourism sector is an important industry, even if profits in the cleaning industry are often low.

For holidaymakers and locals, Rügen remains a place full of possibilities, where innovation meets tradition and everyone finds their place.
