Savitri Temple Pushkar - Best viewpoint in Pushkar
Savitri Temple Pushkar - Best viewpoint in Pushkar
The Savitri Temple Pushkar on the Ratnagiri hill is a popular place of pilgrimage for Hindus and a great viewpoint for visitors to Pushkar.
The Savitri Temple, also known as Savitri Mata, is a Hindu pilgrimage location dedicated to the goddess Savitri, which is enthroned on the summit of the Ratnagiri hill in Pushkar. It is also an excellent viewpoint that you earn after a steep but relatively short 15-minute walk from the lake.
The view of the Savitri temple overlooks the entire Pushkar oasis and the surrounding valley landscape and deserves its title for the best viewpoint in Pushkar.

How to get to the Savitri Temple Pushkar
The Savitri Temple is only a short 15-minute walk southwest of Pushkar Ghat. In fact, you can see the temple on the Ratnagiri hill from most points in Pushkar.
In true Pushkar style, you will notice stands and sellers right after arriving at the foot of the hill who sell everything from chai to jewelry. The steep staircase begins right behind these providers.
These stairs are large and steep. Apparently there are over 200 levels that are an important part of the pilgrimage to this site for Hindus. So get on in time for sunrise or start and enjoy the view!

The Savitri Temple Cortex
You will probably also notice the Savitri Temple Ropeway or cable car that runs from the foot of the hill. I was told that the price is 90 rupees per person. However, this can apparently fluctuate seasonally.
To be honest, I would recommend the walk instead of taking the cable car. Although it is steep, I am firmly convinced that the viewpoints are more worthwhile after a bit of sweat.
Cable car
The cable car is in operation from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. As a result, you could absorb it for the sunset, but you have to turn your legs if you want to enjoy the view of the Savitri temple at sunrise.

What to expect in the Savitri-Mata Temple
After you have come past watching monkeys and have an ever better view when climbing, you will soon reach the Savitri Mata temple on the top of the hill.
When you arrive, remember to take off your shoes. You can leave them near the entrance.
You are free to explore the temple and enjoy the view from here or go a little further along the Ratnagiri ridge to enjoy an incredible look over the deserted desert valley.

Admission price
No admission is raised to visit the Savitri Temple in Pushkar. However, you can offer a donation at the entrance if you feel committed. We were not asked or put under pressure to leave a donation, but dropped 50 rupees as the gesture of good will.
Hindus pilgrimage site
As mentioned above, this temple is a Hindu pilgrimage location that is dedicated to the wife of Lord Brahma, Savitri. The Savitri-Mata Temple was built in 1687 and survived the time. Inside the temple you can also catch a look at the 1300 -year -old idols of Savitri and Gayatri.

Where to stay in Pushkar - accommodation leader
With so many accommodation opportunities in Pushkar, I can understand the Frustration when booking. When choosing, I recommend finding a place near the lake. This is because most activities in Pushkar are only a few minutes' walk from the lake. Since accommodations in Pushkar are plentiful and cheap, there is really little reason not to book a bed near the action.
Where I stayed: Madpackers Pushkar This hostel made my entire visit to Pushkar and the atmosphere fits the goal perfectly. It was awarded India in 2019 by Hostelworld for its atmosphere, three terraces, a chill area on the roof and a yoga/camping terrace as India's best hostel. In order to make things even better, dormitories cost about $ 6 per night. For me, this is a child's play and one that I can recommend without any problems.
Private room with the best price-performance ratio: Varah Square Guest Houseine of the few accommodation opportunities in Pushkar without a negative assessment. Near the ghat with a view from the roof terrace on Pushkar and the surrounding mountains. Budget rooms only cost about $ 5 while you can get a deluxe room with a view for $ 2.
