Creative flat rate?
But the big question mark hanging over my head quickly dissipated. The creative flat rate is offered by https://www.tutkit.com, an e-learning platform.
Specifically, there are tutorials, video training, templates and much more about graphic and web design, photography, 3D and motion design and office programs.
At school I hated studying. That must have been the case for many people. Today I like studying. Especially things that I enjoy.
At the moment I'm dedicating myself more to photography and image editing. Of course also suitable for blogging, because the pictures for the articles don't just fall out of the sky.
The test offer from Stefan, one of the founders of Tutkit.com, came at just the right time.
What does Tutkit.com include?
alt="TutKit">
There are currently over 7000 tutorials and more than 12000 presets/templates online. So quite a lot. There are not new ones every day, but at least once or several times a week.
The content is divided into the following categories: Templates & Presets, 3D & Motion Design, Photography, Graphic Design, Office Marketing, Software and Web Design. For me at the moment only photography, graphic design and the templates are relevant.
Since I've only been using Linux since 2003, the selection for me is of course a little smaller than for others.
I was all the more surprised that courses on the subject of gimps were also offered. In my opinion, more on the subject of image and video editing as well as photography under Linux would be desirable. But what is not can still become.
How much does the creative flat rate cost?
Of course there is no flat rate for free. Even if some people would like that in their free internet mentality.
The prices are very moderate given the extensive selection. It starts at €9.95 per month. Of course, with a few restrictions that may not be relevant for many.
There are discounts for schoolchildren, students, trainees, job seekers, seniors/pensioners (over 60) and people with disabilities. They receive a 20% discount.
Of course, there is also the option to test the whole thing for free.
How does Tutkit.com work?

The whole thing takes place on a website regardless of the operating system. This means you can access the content from the comfort of your own home. Via smartphone, tablet or PC.
My experiences with the creative flat rate from Tutkit.com
After registering and completing the desired package, you can get started straight away.
To test it, I chose the smartphone photography and image editing course. It contains a total of 28 videos divided into 5 chapters.
The videos are short, but convey a lot of knowledge. I have been using the apps Lightroom Mobile and Snapseed used there for a long time. Nevertheless, I was able to learn a lot.
Do you know that too?
You have been using an app for a long time and think you know your way around it. But then you are taught otherwise.
My workflow has improved and the features I use to edit photos have expanded. But after all, anyone can edit. The course is also about photography itself.
That means, before you look at the picture, just turn your head on and think about whether everything fits. Many will now say: “It doesn’t matter, if the picture doesn’t work, I’ll just delete it.”
It's right! That's what I've done so far.
Before I take the photo, I think about questions like: “Could the perspective be changed?” Does the object look better in the middle or should I use the golden ratio? What do I even want to show?”
I never really bothered to think about any of these things before. I just clicked on it. With the result that after a vacation I had around 4000 pictures. A nightmare for anyone who has to watch something like that.
Of course, the result is certainly a matter of taste. In any case, I like the edited one much better.
In addition to the smartphone photography course, I also watched the image editing course with Gimp: the practical tutorial.
This consists of 36 videos with a total running time of 9.5 hours. In addition to the beginner basics, advanced lessons are also included, such as working with layer masks.
I've worked with levels before, but not nearly as intensively as they do there.
This is just a small selection of the experiments I tried during the course. Now is of course time to practice and deepen what you have learned.
If necessary, I'll watch the video again, which brings us to the advantages and disadvantages of further training via the Internet for me:
I can determine the learning progress and speed myself
I can press pause at any time, for example to try something out
I Individual chapters can be repeated at any time
I determine the course times myself
I don't have to drive anywhere (and get stuck in traffic)
I can watch the videos as many times as I want
Of course there are also disadvantages. Learning progress is not monitored by a lecturer and there is no person to contact if you have any questions. But that's not important to me when it comes to private further training.
My conclusion
A truly cost-effective way to continue your education online. The number of tutorials and courses offered is huge and continues to grow every week.
A clear recommendation for anyone who wants to learn something new, regardless of time and place.
Did it make me more creative?
Yes, it has.
Definitely when I look at the photos on my Instagram feed and here on the blog. Now it's still time to practice, practice, practice and try something new every day.
If you want to try the whole thing out, you can of course test it out for free beforehand.
