Where is the flooded cape walk?
The Flooded Cape Walk begins at the suitable Adventure Bay on the east coast of South Bruny Island, Tasmania. In addition to the Bruny Island Cruise Terminal (not the car ferry terminal) there is a special parking space on which you can park your car and start the hike.

How to get there
Adventure Bay can be reached via paved roads that are suitable for every vehicle type. Expect about 35 minutes to get here if you drive from Bruny Island Ferry Terminal in the north.
Unfortunately, it is not possible to reach the Fluted Cape Track without its own means of transport (or hitchhiking), since there are no public transport to Adventure Bay.
If you are determined to see the Flooded Cape and the incredible southeast coast of Bruny, I can highly recommend booking a Bruny Island cruise from Adventure Bay. The best thing about it is when you book online, you can use your accommodation to Bruny Island or even a guided bus from Hobart.
This trip has been recognized three times in the past ten years as Australia's best tourism activity, so do not miss it!

The Flooded Cape Walk: Hiking Funder
Hiking route: 7.2 km (circular path)
Duration: 2-3 hours
Höhe: 345 m Total height difference | 315 m AMSL at the KAP-OUT point
Medium
The Flooded Cape Track is a well-kept circular hike that begins and ends at the Adventure Bay Parkplatz. The best way to do it is clockwise because this makes the climb more pleasant.
The route follows a largely flat eucalyptus forest until it reaches Grass Point. Expect a gentle slope from here until you reach the Flooded Cape viewpoint.
along the way there are several great places where you can stop and admire the view. Therefore, expect at least 2-3 hours on the trail.

East Cove to Grass Point
The first section of the Flooded Cape Walk begins on the beach of Adventure Bay. Hikers have to go to the other end of the beach (right) and cross a gentle stream before entering the forest path that is known as East Cove.
From here the path turns to the left and follows the coast to Grass Point. Look for Wallabys in the bush. There are a few clearings from which you have a great view of the Adventure Bay.

The gorge and the penguin island
After about 2 kilometers you can reach Grass Point. This is a rocky "gorge" or a current between the coast and the penguin island.
Although we didn't see any penguins here, we took some time to admire the huge waves and read the information boards that describe the whaling history of this region.

Grass Point is a good place to turn around if you are not ready to continue the flooded cape walk. However, I strongly recommend this because the view is excellent.

The corrugated cloak
Immediately right of Grass Point, the path continues and begins to climb for the next 2.2 kilometers until you reach the Flooded Cape viewpoint. This section of the Flooded Cape Walk is the most beautiful in my opinion. Take the time and often stick to admire the steep cliffs and deep blue water of the bays underneath.

In the beginning it is a bit difficult to say where the path ends and leads back down. However, if you continue on the obvious path, you will finally come to a guide shortly before the Flooded Cape.

Run back to adventure bay
From the signpost at Cape, hike back to Adventure Bay by following a forest path. This route does not offer a view, but is still a pleasant way to complete the round while you take a gentle walk back to Adventure Bay.

Accommodation options on Bruny Island
Adventure Bay Holiday Homedies is the best rated holiday home on Bruny Island. It is located cheap in Adventure Bay, near the Flooded Cape and the Bruny Island cruise terminal. It has two bedrooms, a kitchen, a living area and outdoor areas. This is certainly one of the options with the best price-performance ratio on Bruny.
