New Walk of Wagner 2025: Discover Wagner's places of residence!
The Walk of Wagner in Bayreuth, which has attracted numerous visitors since its introduction in 2013, will be launched in 2025 with a new theme: the places where the composer Richard Wagner lived. Loud bayreuth.de This year, various homes from different regions of Europe are presented, including Saxony, Franconia, Upper Bavaria, Bavarian Swabia, Lower Saxony, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Latvia and the Czech Republic. These sites are known for their historical relevance as Wagner lived there for a time.
The Walk of Wagner itself extends from the Richard Wagner Residence, known as Wahnfried, to the Festival Hall and offers visitors an authentic insight into Wagner's life and work. Over the years, 17 characteristic cubes have been set up that present changing themes every year and offer exciting insights into Wagner's life and work. An accompanying leaflet provides information about Wagner's original locations in Bayreuth and contains a city map section showing the course of the Walk of Wagner. This Leporello is available at the Tourist Information at Opernstrasse 22 and can also be found on the website bayreuth-tourismus.de be downloaded.
Interactive experiences and historical insights
The Walk of Wagner is operated by Bayreuth Marketing & Tourism GmbH and is designed as a replica of the famous Walk of Fame in Hollywood. It consists of 19 concrete cubes, which have also served as platforms for colorful sculptures by Ottmar Hörl since 2014. These distinctive elements add to the walk's appeal and promote interest in Wagner's life and his influence on music history.
Here, visitors can not only learn more about Wagner's life, but also about many prominent personalities who influenced Wagner's thinking and work. Informative texts shed light on how architects such as Gottfried Semper and Otto Brückwald are reflected in Wagner's work, while connections to philosophical teachings and other famous figures such as Karl Marx and Ludwig van Beethoven are discussed. These interactive experiences provide a deep insight into the cultural and music-historical contexts.

The new Walk of Wagner exhibition was supported by numerous sponsors, many from the hotel and catering industry as well as retail. The initiative received further funding from the IHK Oberfranken, the Sparkasse Bayreuth, the ticket office, the Bayreuth shop and the Bayreuther Sonntagszeitung. All of these partners work together to offer visitors an unforgettable Richard Wagner experience and to strengthen Bayreuth's cultural identity.
