The journey to Magnetic Island is as simple as a 40-minute ride on the ferry from Townsville.

How do you come to Florence Bay on Magnetic Island?
You wonder how you come to Florence Bay? Hikers have two ways to either take a bus from Nelly Bay and hike Arthur Bay Track or hike from Horseshoe Bay, past Balding and Radical Bay.
Florence Bay from Nelly Bay Ferry Terminal
If you come directly from the Nelly Bay Ferry Terminal, it is best to take a bus from the terminal to the bus stop The Forts. The cost of the bus ticket is 3.70 USD. However, I would recommend buying a day ticket that you can use to drive around Magnetic Island indefinitely at the price of just two tickets.
from The Forts you should follow the Radical Bay Road to behind Arthur Bay. It's about a 30-minute walk, but the landscape is worth it. If you have time, you should definitely stop at Arthur Bay.
Hike at the Balding, Radical and Florence Track from Horseshoe Bay from
The far best way to get to Florence Bay is to take the Balding, Radical and Florence Bay Track from Horseshoe Bay.
The hike takes you to sightseeing and snorkeling around the best bays on Magnetic Island. There are also some incredible viewpoints on the way that you shouldn't miss. The hike takes about 3 hours for the way back and forth.

The Florence Bay hiking trail begins at the eastern end of Horseshoe Bay, right behind the bus stop on the beach. There are several signs along the way and it should be pretty easy to find. To help you, I marked the start of the route on the map below.
Sailing on Magnetic Island
I explored Magnetic Island on my two -month sailing trip from Mackay to the Daintree River. During this time we anchored for a week at Horseshoe Bay.

Activities in Florence Bay
to Florence Bay? Apart from the fact that you only relax on the beach, you will find some epic things that you can do after your arrival.
snorkeling
Florence Bay is famous for being one of the best snorkeling spaces on Magnetic Island. There are several white, diamond -shaped reef markings that indicate a clear snorkeling path.
The reef extends from the northern end to the bay. The other side mainly consists of sand and small spots of sea grass. Keep an eye out for mantarochets who often visit these bays.
It is best to snorkel at flood in Florence Bay because it is easier to go out to the reef.

You will find the secret remote beach
At the other end of the bay there is a small, secret, remote beach. It may not be visible immediately, but if you walk around the rocks on the right side of the bay, you can achieve it within about 20 minutes.
You have to climb a few large rocks and balance on some tree trunks as you walk over. However, as soon as you arrive, you have a remote place that is perfect for snorkeling or simply enjoying the Florence Bay in complete seclusion.

continue to Arthur Bay
If you haven't caught Arthur Bay on the way there, there is a street and a path that will continue from the southern end of Florence Bay towards Arthur Bay that you could take.
For those who return to Horseshoe Bay, it is only a short 20-minute detour to one of the best bays on the island.
If you want to explore more of the hidden treasures of Magnetic Island, I strongly recommend you to run the headland to Arthur Bay
keep an eye out for Koalas
Magnetic Island is the home of hundreds of Koalas. They stay for themselves, but like to chill in the eucalyptus trees. Keep the route in the eye.
Remember when you see you are pretty shy. Give them a little space and admire them from a distance.
