How do I get here?
As far as I know, there are no regular tour buses or groups that visit this waterfall. This means that if you want to see it, you will have to rent a motorbike and drive yourself.
Motorbike rental price in Chiang Rai: 150 -200 Baht per day. If you stay at Grace Hostel, the owner can arrange a motorbike for you.
The drive to Mae Sai Waterfall is very scenic and passes several tea plantations, rice fields and rolling hills along the way. The roads in and around Chiang Rai are also very good, meaning you shouldn't have much trouble finding it.
Once you get to the top of the pin, park your bike and follow the path past the tourist hut for about 5 minutes until you reach the lowest level.
For the top level, you can backtrack a few steps and take the first steep dirt path that leads up. After less than 5 minutes you will reach the second level.

What to Expect at Mae Sai Waterfall Chiang Rai
The lowest level of Mae Sai Waterfall is a small little oasis in the jungle with a waterfall about 10 meters deep that flows into a pool over 2.5 meters deep but narrow.
The waterfall pool is quite deep and easy enough to swim in.

The second waterfall level is slightly larger. However, this level shows more of a cascading waterfall flowing down the jagged rocks into another swimming pool.

Waterfall cliff jump
After testing the water depth (always necessary), I decided it was deep enough to attempt a cliff jump at the lowest waterfall.
The jump is only about 6 meters high but is a bit challenging as you have to land right in the middle of the pool where the water is deepest.
If you decide to jump at Mae Sai Waterfall, be sure to check the conditions and depth. Also, avoid the flat edges and aim to jump right into the middle of the water hole.

OVERNIGHT IN CHIANG RAI
My accommodation in Chiang Mai: Grace HostelGrace Hostel was actually one of my favorite hostels in Northern Thailand. The free breakfast is great. Although it's just outside the city center, the friendly owner can drive you to the markets or the bus station for free.
Highly-Rated Guesthouse: SuanTung Guest House This is one of the top-rated budget guesthouses in Chiang Rai. It's super central, just a few minutes walk from the night market and the clock tower and the bus stop.
Cheapest Dorm in Chiang Rai: Bar 184 Party HostelBar 184 has dorms for under $5 per night, which is the cheapest you'll find in Chiang Rai. If you're looking for a party atmosphere at a reasonable price, this is the place for you. These guys also arrange motorbikes if you want you to ride one to Mae Sai Waterfall.
I always compare accommodations between Hostelworld, Booking.com and Agoda. Between these three you will always get the cheapest price and the best offers. I find that Booking.com usually has the best deals for Thailand.
