Mae Sai Waterfall Chiang Rai is a waterfall with two levels that is somewhat away from Chiang Rai's regular two -day tourist route. This waterfall is perfect for swimming, cooling and even for a secret cliff jump.

Where is Mae Sai Waterfall

The Mae Sai waterfall is located in Mae Yao, Chiang Rai. To get here with the motorcycle, it is about 35 minutes away from the city.

The waterfall itself is on a small path that leads from a large parking lot that is very difficult to overlook.

How do I get here

As far as I know, there are no regular coaches or groups who visit this waterfall. This means that if you want to see it, you have to rent a motorcycle and drive yourself.

Motorby rental price in Chiang Rai: 150-200 baht a day. If you spend the night in the Grace Hostel, the owner can arrange a motorcycle for you.

The trip to the Mae Sai waterfall is very attractive and leads past several tea plantations, rice fields and gentle hills on the way. The streets in and around Chiang Rai are also very good, which means that they shouldn't have any big problems to find it.

When you have arrived at the top of the pin, park your bike and follow the path past the tourist hut for about 5 minutes until you reach the lowest level.

For the top level, you can take a few steps back and take the first steep dirt road that leads up. After less than 5 minutes you will reach the second level.

The lowest level of the Mae Sai waterfall is a small small oasis in the jungle with a waterfall about 10 meters deep, which flows into a deep but narrow pool.

The waterfall pool is pretty deep and light enough to swim in it.

The second waterfall level is somewhat larger. However, this level is more of a cascading waterfall that flows down the rugged rocks into another swimming pool.

Waterfall cliff jump

After testing the water depth (always necessary), I decided that it was deep enough to try a cliff jump at the bottom waterfall.

The jump is only about 6 meters high, but somewhat challenging because they have to land exactly in the middle of the pelvis where the water is deepest.

If you decide to jump on the Mae Sai waterfall, be sure to check the conditions and the depth. Also avoid the flat edges and aim to jump exactly in the middle of the water hole.
