Construction of the National Exhibition Center in Hanoi: A milestone for Vietnam!

The construction of the National Exhibition Center in Vietnam has made great progress in a very short period of time. After the foundation stone was laid in Dong Anh district, Hanoi on August 30, 2023, the project has already reached its visible phase after just nine months. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on May 19 inspected the current construction progress of this important project, which is scheduled to open on September 2, 2025, coinciding with the 80th anniversary of the National Day. The center is considered a symbol of Vietnam and Hanoi.

Vingroup Corporation, which finances the center, has taken responsibility for completing both major and ancillary works by June 30, 2025. Prime Minister Chinh calls for the upcoming work to be accelerated and transparency to be maintained to avoid corruption. The opening of the National Exhibition Center is scheduled for August 19, 2025, followed by an exhibition on socio-economic achievements from August 28 to September 6, 2025.

Project goals and significance

The National Exhibition Center will not only be a modern event center, but also showcase Vietnam's achievements over the past 80 years. The long-term goals of the project include creating a world-class exhibition center, promoting the cultural and entertainment industry, and developing high-quality tourism products. The center is also intended to help the population appreciate the country's cultural and artistic achievements.

With a total area of 90 hectares, the new exhibition center will be one of the ten largest exhibition halls in the world. The expected exhibition area is up to 260,000 m², divided into 130,000 m² indoor and 130,000 m² outdoor areas. The center's interior design is inspired by the figure of the Golden Turtle, a significant cultural symbol of Vietnam. The indoor exhibition area will be divided into nine sections, each over 10,000 square meters in size, with a central hall of more than 7,000 square meters.

Infrastructure and strategic location

The center will be strategically built along Hanoi's main transportation routes, including planned metro lines, and will replace the old exhibition site on Giang Vo Street. Water facilities and green spaces are planned around the center, which, together with four outdoor exhibition parks, will cover an area of 20.6 hectares. Once completed, the center is expected to rank second in the world and first in Asia for outdoor exhibition space.

The project is not only a significant development at the local level, but also aims to strengthen Vietnam's global profile. Minister Nguyen Van Hung expressed confidence about Vingroup's completion of the project on time. Hanoi City also plans to develop urban transportation infrastructure, including bridges over the Red River and ring roads, to improve access to the center.

The combination of technological advancements such as 3D mapping, virtual reality experiences and digital technology will ensure that the National Exhibition Center will be a highlight of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam. All ministries, municipalities and companies are invited to take part in the upcoming exhibition and present their achievements.
