ILA celebrates 30 years of education: over a million fates changed!

ILA was founded in Vietnam 30 years ago with the guiding principle “education changes lives”. The educational company started its journey with a small course for entrepreneurs and has since grown into the leading educational institution in the country. As of 2018, ILA has supported over one million students and made a significant contribution to global knowledge integration. Today, ILA operates 73 learning centers in various major cities in Vietnam that meet international standards and are operated by a highly qualified team of over 3,000 teachers and staff. What is particularly noteworthy is that 100% of foreign teachers have international teaching certificates such as TESOL or CELTA, which underlines the quality of the teaching.

ILA not only offers language lessons, but also promotes life skills and global thinking. Over 50,000 students have already received support to gain Cambridge certificates, while more than 35,000 students have been assisted in applying to universities in countries such as the US, UK, Australia, Canada and Singapore. A significant step was the launch of the SAT test prep program in partnership with The Princeton Review in 2021.

Commitment to community and education

ILA’s commitment extends beyond the classroom; the institution actively participates in community programs with humanitarian values, such as building bridges and modernizing schools. These initiatives not only promote education, but also strengthen community ties. Many parents who were students at ILA themselves entrust their children into the hands of this institution.

ILA sees itself on an ongoing journey full of challenges and opportunities. The focus remains on disseminating knowledge and supporting students' personal development. With a curriculum based on a competency framework that promotes effective communication, critical thinking and creativity, ILA offers a comprehensive education that goes far beyond simply learning English.

Global learning in the classroom

In parallel to the developments at ILA, the concept of global learning also plays an important role in English teaching. As part of a pilot project in Austria called “Teaching World Class”, a booklet was developed that deals with the systematic integration of global topics into teaching. The magazine covers topics such as linguistic diversity, the origin of food, human rights and the effects of globalization.

The focus is on developing students’ oral and written language skills. They learn to write, read, listen and discuss global issues in a foreign language. This approach not only promotes vocabulary, but also interdisciplinary skills such as value discussions and participatory thinking. The teaching materials are available online and are aimed at secondary school students.

This connection between ILA's efforts and global learning approaches highlights the importance of understanding education as an integral part of a dynamic and globalized world.
