New flights from Leipzig to Bulgaria: dream destinations on the Black Sea!

Leipzig/Halle Airport is offering its passengers an expanded selection of travel destinations this summer. Two new flight connections to Bulgaria and the Black Sea are now available. The airline SunExpress Airlines flies to Varna and Burgas in cooperation with Electra Airways. These new routes are part of the summer flight schedule and strengthen the offer at the airport, which serves a total of 29 destinations in 13 countries with up to 222 weekly flights.

Varna, Bulgaria's third largest city, has flights on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The city is known for its history and cultural significance, thanks in part to the discovery of the “Gold of Varna,” a 6,000-year-old Thracian jewelry found in a necropolis. In addition to the historical sites, visitors can admire the archaeological museum, which exhibits artifacts from the Greek, Roman and Ottoman periods.

Flights to Burgas

The connection to Burgas is offered on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Burgas is famous for the Cathedral of the Holy Brothers Kiril and Methodius, which is equipped with special stained glass windows. Another highlight is the city's Sea Garden, which includes a wide promenade, a summer theater and a viewing platform on the pier.

The flights to Varna and Burgas are operated with Airbus A320 and are available until the end of September. This initiative comes at a time when Leipzig/Halle Airport can build on an overall positive development in air traffic.

Changes in flight offerings

Parallel to the new connections, however, there are also changes in the flight offering: Universal Air is discontinuing its scheduled flights to Hungary, just two months after the start of the connection between Leipzig/Halle and Debrecen. This decision was made due to economic considerations and the airline announced that all bookings after May 31st will be automatically canceled and ticket prices refunded. After less than 20 flight movements at Leipzig/Halle Airport, Universal Air will continue to offer charter and ACMI services.

Leipzig/Halle Airport continues to offer its travelers a wide range of travel options, with a particular focus on the new routes to Bulgaria. Passengers who love flying can look forward to relaxing holidays on the beautiful beaches of the Black Sea. For more information about the new flight connections, visit mz.de and dubisthalle.de.
