Today, May 17, 2025, the Hotsverein 1892 Freyung went on this year's club trip. The trip took the members to the picturesque Traunsee in the Salzkammergut, where numerous activities and experiences were on the program. The central stage of the trip to Gmunden included exciting ascents and descents with the Grünberg cable car. This part of the excursion was particularly impressive as the participants were able to enjoy breathtaking views of Gmunden, Lake Traunsee and the Höllengebirge during the climb to 1004 meters above sea level.
Visit to the treetop path
Another highlight was a visit to the renowned Salzkammergut treetop path. The path not only offers unique perspectives on the surrounding forest, but also various information and experience stations. The 39 meter high observation tower, which is made predominantly of wood, was built in a nature-friendly manner and its shape is reminiscent of a huge salt barrel, which takes the history and culture of the region into account. The tower is accessed via a ramp suitable for wheelchairs and strollers, making the visit accessible to all age groups.
As you climb, new, impressive views of Lake Traunsee, Traunstein and the foothills of the Alps reveal themselves on every floor. The top platform of the tower offers a breathtaking 360-degree panorama and is a highlight of the visit. Visitors have a choice for the descent: they can either take the ramp back or opt for the adrenaline-charged route via a 75-meter-long tunnel slide, which provides exciting moments, such as gruenberg.info reported.
Cultural discoveries in Gmunden
After the return journey to the valley station, the participants experienced the charming old town of Gmunden. The lake promenade, which leads to the Ort lake castle, as well as the city's numerous sights thrilled the day trippers.
