State of emergency on Sylt: filming for Nord Nord Mord” inspires!
There is currently a state of emergency on the popular North Sea island of Sylt. The reason for this is the filming of ZDF's successful crime series “Nord Nord Mord”. How moin.de reported that a section of street in Westerland was transformed into a film set. This attracted numerous onlookers and fans, including the actor Peter Heinrich Brix, known as Inspector Carl Sievers.
On the morning of the day of filming, camera teams, technical equipment and barriers were set up. The recordings took place near the studio of the radio station R.SH. Moderator Carsten from R.SH informed the public about the events in a Facebook post. Enthusiastic reactions from viewers of the crime series quickly spread across social media. Some users even shared their experiences as extras from previous filming, which further increased anticipation for the new episodes.
Popular crime series attracts millions
“Nord Nord Mord” has become a ratings hit since it was first broadcast in April 2011. The series attracts up to 10 million viewers, like kosmopoetin.com reported. The first episode reached 4.2 million viewers, and the numbers have doubled since then. A record was set with the episode “Sievers and the Murderous Turquoise” in January 2022, which attracted 10.32 million viewers.
The 26th episode entitled “Sievers and the Deep Sleep” is currently in production and will be broadcast on May 3, 2025 at 8:15 p.m. In this episode, Inspector Sievers is involuntarily involved in a murder case. A total of 25 episodes have already been broadcast, the 25th episode “Sievers and the Lost Dog” had 8.66 million viewers.
Filming locations on Sylt and beyond
The popular crime series has been filmed on Sylt since the 1920s. The filming locations include Morsum, Keitum, Lister Ellebogen, Hörnum and Kampen. Scenes are particularly often recorded in Westerland, including in the “Beach House” and at the Musikmuschel. Some filming also takes place in Hamburg and the surrounding area, for example in the Ammersbeker town hall and in Bargfeld-Stegen.
Production for two new cases is scheduled to begin at the end of April 2025, and three more episodes have already been filmed, although their broadcast dates have not yet been announced. The planned titles for these new episodes are “Sievers and the Silent Oysters”, “Sievers and the Song of the Whales” and “Sievers and the Last Tango”.
Overall, the positive reactions to Sylt predominated, but there were also critical voices regarding the costs and effort of public television. Nevertheless, the joy of the popular crime series “Nord Nord Mord” remains unbroken.
