Leipzig attracts Thuringian families: discover holiday highlights!

Leipzig Tourismus und Marketing GmbH (LTM) launched a comprehensive cross-media campaign in Thuringia in May 2025 to attract new guests to the Leipzig region. The focus is particularly on families, who are attracted by the region's geographical proximity and diverse leisure activities. Thuringia is considered an important source area for national tourism in Leipzig, which underlines the importance of this campaign. Loud mynewsdesk.com Leipzig is popular for day trips and short breaks.

The campaign includes several components that together aim to reach a wide audience. On May 24, 2025, a special supplement will be published in the “Thüringer Allgemeine”, “Thüringische Landeszeitung” and “Ostthüringer Zeitung”, which contains a 16-page overview with excursion tips and travel offers. This is expected to appeal to around 577,000 readers in Central Thuringia and Jena, which corresponds to 42.4% of the population. In addition, two family short holiday packages will be raffled off, which increases the attractiveness of the offer.

Radio campaign and billboard advertising

At the same time, a radio campaign is running at Antenne Thüringen until June 7, 2025, which is being implemented in cooperation with the city of Grimma. Antenne Thüringen reaches a daily reach of 833,000 listeners, particularly in the 14 to 59 age group. Together with a two-week after-work quiz in which ten short vacation packages are raffled off, the campaign is generating a lot of interest. Two regional spots will also be broadcast - one about Grimma, the other about the Leipzig region. In order to increase the online presence, a banner campaign will also be placed on the Antenne Thüringen website.

Another highlight is the poster campaign, which will be on display in Erfurt, Jena and Weimar from May 27th to June 9th, 2025 with over 100 City Light posters. A campaign motif is presented that focuses on Rochlitz and the Mulde. There will also be a raffle for a short vacation for families to make the Leipzig region even more attractive.

Passenger advertising and diverse offers

An innovative element of the campaign is passenger advertising in Erfurt. A 20 meter long EVAG tram will be decorated with a motif from the city of Grimma in order to attract even more visitors. Other tourist “lighthouses” in the region are also promoted to highlight the versatility of Leipzig as a leisure and holiday region. A total of 13 short vacation packages will be raffled off, further increasing the incentive to visit the region. At a time when tourist travel in Germany is possible again with almost no restrictions, LTM GmbH is increasing its efforts to attract guests. After the successful spring campaign in Baden-Württemberg, the new campaign “Dive into Leipzig” is aimed specifically at families with children in North Rhine-Westphalia. The focus here is on leisure, water, nature and active holidays in order to further promote interest in Leipzig. In addition to print and radio advertising, online and social media campaigns are also planned to appeal to young city travelers.

With over 300 large-scale posters in cities such as Bochum, Duisburg and Essen, as well as a competition where you can win a long weekend in Leipzig, a younger audience is specifically targeted. Volker Bremer, Managing Director of LTM GmbH, emphasizes the change in travel behavior after the pandemic, which increasingly favors recovery in one's own country and short-term decisions. The great demand for leisure activities, trade fairs and major events demonstrate the popularity of the region.
