New organic bike tours on Lake Constance: enjoyment for the family and the environment!
The Lake Constance region has presented a new highlight for bike tours: the introduction of organic pleasure bike tours. This initiative, launched publicly on May 17, 2025, aims to create a link between agriculture and tourism while educating people about organic farming. Loud South Courier Organic and tourism associations have developed five new routes that offer both culinary and scenic experiences.
Christoph Reiber from the Demeter Association of Baden-Württemberg highlights the region's untapped potential. The new routes are a collaboration between various associations, including Demeter, Bioland and Naturland, as well as regional tourism organizations and the organic model region of Lake Constance.
Details about the routes
The five bike routes offer varied stops and impressions of regional agriculture:
The average speed is 15 km/h, which corresponds to a travel time of approximately 1 hour and 39 minutes. The target groups are families, nature lovers and leisure cyclists, who can also discover gastronomic offerings and activities such as carriage rides or overnight accommodation through the tours.
The aim of the tours is to educate and enjoy
Nadine Hölzl from the Regio Konstanz-Bodensee-Hegau tourism association emphasizes the importance of regionality and the development of agriculture for tourism. There are informative signs at the stop points that provide information about the farms and organic farming. Anette Wilkening also explains the concept of the global field, which draws attention to the importance of permanent grassland for CO2 storage and biodiversity. A clear appeal to participants is to consume grass-fed steak to support climate protection.
The Deggenhausertal cycle tour takes participants through the picturesque landscape to the community of Heiligenberg, known for its Renaissance castle with a view of Lake Constance. Further surprises await the cyclists at Solawi Heiligenberg, a nursery that has been growing vegetables and herbs since 2020. The local Hiller Frischemarkt, a Demeter-certified market, rounds off the experience and offers a variety of fresh, regional organic products.
After an exciting and educational tour, the participants return 35 kilometers to the Lehenhof, where they can once again enjoy fresh organic products. The combination of cycling and culinary enjoyment offers a comprehensive opportunity to get to know the advantages of organic farming on Lake Constance. This initiative not only increases awareness of sustainable agriculture, but also promotes regional identity.
