New organic bike tours on Lake Constance: enjoyment for family and the environment!
Überlingen, Deutschland - The Lake Constance region has presented a new highlight for bike tours: the introduction of organic enjoyment bike tours. This initiative, which was publicly presented on May 17, 2025, aims to create a connection between agriculture and tourism and at the same time to clarify organic farming. According to have bio- und Tourism associations developed five new routes that offer both culinary and landscape experiences.
Christoph Reiber from the Demeter Association of Baden-Württemberg emphasizes the unused potential of the region. The new routes are a collaboration between different associations, including Demeter, Bioland and Naturland, as well as regional tourism organizations and the organic pattern region of Lake Constance.
Details about the routes
The five bike routes offer varied stops and impressions of regional agriculture:
- Wahlwies: 24 km with stops to Homburg and a orchard.
- Deggenhausertal: 35 km, the Lehenhof and the Baader Landbäckerei are visited.
The starting point is the Lehenhof, which runs a health food store with a café and offers even produced organic products such as bread and cake. - Mühlingen: 32 km, highlights are the Berenberg Hof, the old town of Stockach and the herb fields of Herbar Floralis.
- Hegau: begins in the narrow old town with stops on Blumfeld, Tengen and the Napoleon Seck.
- Überlingen: This 25 km long route is supported by the leader program for rural development.
The average speed is 15 km/h, which corresponds to a travel time of about 1 hour and 39 minutes. Target groups are families, nature lovers and pleasure cyclists who can also discover gastronomic offers and activities such as carriage rides or accommodation.
Enlightenment and pleasure target of the tours
Nadine Hölzl from the Regio Konstanz-Bodensee-Hegau tourism association emphasizes the importance of regionality and the tourist development of agriculture. Informative signs are set up at the stop points that educate about the courtyards and organic farming. Anette Wilkening also explains the concept of the world stacker, which draws attention to the importance of permanent grassland for CO2 storage and biodiversity. A clear appeal to the participants is to consume steak out of grazing to support climate protection.
The Deggenhausertal-Radtour leads the participants through the picturesque landscape to the municipality of Heiligenberg, known for their Renaissance lock with a view of Lake Constance. The cyclists on Solawi Heiligenberg, a nursery that has grown vegetables and herbs since 2020, await further surprises. The local Hiller Frischemarkt, a Demeter-certified market, rounds off the experience and offers a variety of fresh, regional organic products.
After an exciting and educational tour, the participants return to the Lehenhof after 35 kilometers, where they can again enjoy fresh organic products. The combination of cycling and culinary enjoyment offers a comprehensive opportunity to get to know the advantages of biological agriculture on Lake Constance. This initiative not only raises awareness of sustainable agriculture, but also promoted the regional identity.
