Popular holiday destinations in Germany: Where will you spend your holiday in 2025?

Every year, Germans have to decide where they want to spend their well-deserved vacation. A current survey by t-online is intended to provide information about which holiday regions in Germany are most popular with readers. Germany has become increasingly popular for holiday travel in recent years. Last year, around 36 percent of Germans spent their main vacation in their own country, which corresponds to around 20 million people. There are many reasons for vacationing in your own country: the easy accessibility, the wide range of offers and the moderate temperatures in summer, which rarely experience heat periods over 40 degrees.

The t-online survey analyzes travelers' preferences and covers 16 popular travel destinations from different regions of Germany. These cover northern Germany, the south, the east and the western German low mountain ranges. It should be noted that the survey is not representative and therefore does not take into account all holiday destinations, but it does provide a comprehensive overview of the variety of options.

The desire to travel remains high

In addition, there are signs of a great desire to travel among Germans over the next twelve months. According to an analysis by Tourismusanalyse, almost two thirds of German citizens plan to take at least one vacation trip. A surprising aspect of this is that almost one in four people are certain that they will not travel in 2024. Despite this skepticism, Germany remains the most popular travel destination for Germans, and the trend towards foreign holiday destinations continues.

Professor Reinhardt also points out that traveling not only helps you break away from everyday life, but also helps you recharge your batteries. These experiences promote personal development and create valuable memories. Despite possible challenges, travel in 2024 will be a central part of many citizens' lives and one they are willing to spend a lot of money on.

The results of the t-online survey will be published shortly, and the combination of internal surveys and external analyzes will create a more detailed picture of German travel desires. Germany offers travelers a variety of recreational areas that are attractive for both short trips and longer breaks.
