Benang Stokel and Benang Kelambu waterfalls are two of the best waterfalls on Lombok Island, and that's saying something! The GeoPark area is located on the sloping hills of Mount Rinjani, where fresh water flows through thick volcanic veins and flows into the dense jungle waterfalls below.

If you're looking for more Lombok adventures or travel inspiration, don't miss my mega guide to the best things to do in Lombok.

How to get to Benang Stokel and Benang Kelambu Waterfall

These waterfalls are located in Central Lombok Regency, about 1.5 hours from Senggigi or 45 minutes from Tetebatu. The village is known as Teratak Village in North Batukliang District. They are all in the same Geopark area and are a short hike away from each other.

I have pinned the location of Benang Stokel and Benang Kelambu waterfalls below to help you find the location.

Benang Stokel and Benang Kelambu Waterfall Entrance Fee 2019

Once you reach the entrance gate to Benang Stokel Geopark and Benang Kelambu Waterfall, you will be directed to a building on the right. You can park your motorcycle right next to it for free.

Inside you have to pay the entrance fee. For some reason they recently split the fees for different “packages”. I think this is an attempt to get more people to hire a local guide. I'm all for supporting local tourism and guides. However, these guys were extremely pushy and tried to claim that a guide was mandatory, which is definitely not the case.

After a bit of negotiation, we convinced them to let us enter without a local guide for 35,000 IDR each. At the end of the day, this is still the highest entrance fee to an Indonesian waterfall I have ever paid. While the prices, plaques and receipts look legitimate and official, don't be tricked into paying an unfair waterfall admission price.

Hiring a local guide

If you prefer to hire a local guide, this is a great way to get more information about these Lombok waterfalls. You'll also have an easier time finding the other two hidden waterfalls (which I'll talk about in more detail later).

The price for a local guide varies. A fair price would be around 75,000 IDR.

Waterfall tour

If you don't have your own set of wheels or don't want to haggle over entry, then a full-day waterfall tour is a great way to see Benang Stokel and Benang Kelambu Waterfall.

The tour I've linked below includes all costs and arranges accommodation pickup and drop-off from pretty much anywhere in Lombok.

Benang Stokel Waterfall

Okay, with that out of the way, let's head to the actual Lombok Falls! First on the list is Benang Stokel Waterfall or Air Terjun Benang Stokel as it is called by locals.

This one cannot be overlooked. Simply follow the path for an easy walk of about 15 minutes until you reach the clearing.

Benang Stokel has three spouts, each flowing into a shallow basin. However, if you visit these waterfalls in the dry season, expect only the main waterfall to be seen in full force. Unfortunately you cannot swim at these waterfalls as the pool is very shallow. However, you can still get a good natural waterfall shower.

Benang Kelambu waterfall

From Benang Stokel, follow the maps and signs to Benang Kelambu Waterfall. The walk takes just 15 minutes, climbs jungle roads, past banana plantations and ends with a steep descent to the final waterfall.

Air Terjun Benang Kelambu is one of my favorite waterfalls in Lombok simply because it is so unique. Kelambu means “net” in Indonesian, and it’s easy to see why. The water flows gently down a lush green wall that almost looks like a portal to another world.

The wall is wide, with several soothing cascades that flow gently into a man-made concrete swimming pool.

TIP: You may be tempted to walk straight to the main waterfall and swimming pool. However, just to the left behind the steps and behind a curtain of vines and trees is another small waterfall. From here you can even go right to get an epic shower at Benang Kelambu Waterfall.

3 more hidden waterfalls

What many people don't know about Benang Stokel and Benang Kelambu waterfalls is that there are actually 3 other waterfalls here! If you hire a local guide, they will probably show you where they are if you ask.

If not, then you can read my full blog post about it.

Overall, we had an epic time at these falls. I would rank it up there with my favorite in Lombok. After a long day of waterfall hunting, we set off on the tiring drive back to Senggigi with some local legends on Pantai Malase just in time for sunset.

How was your experience with Benang Stokel and Benang Kelambu waterfalls? I would like to hear them.
