A delegation from Neuruppin recently visited Bad Kreuznach. Led by Mayor Nico Ruhle, the stay lasted two days and served as an intensive working meeting. The delegation consisted of members of the twinning committee and the circle of friends for town twinning. During their visit, participants explored the city from a boat and were impressed by the picturesque scenery and wine region that surrounds Bad Kreuznach. The trip to Bad Kreuznach is part of the long-standing partnership between Neuruppin and other cities that are intended to promote cultural exchange. These relationships are of great importance for the development of cities and the exchange of ideas and traditions.
Partnerships and cultural exchange
The city of Neuruppin has had a friendship agreement with Niiza in Japan since November 1, 2003. Niiza is located in Saitama Prefecture, which is a partner region of Brandenburg. The initiative for friendship came from the conductor Takao Ukigaya from Kerzlin. The focus of this agreement is on culture and education. Regular visits between Niiza and Neuruppin are part of the exchange, with music playing a central role.
In the past, several musical encounters have taken place between the two cities. The Niiza Choir visited Neuruppin in 2000, 2005 and 2010, while the Märkische Jugendchor visited Saitama in 2001. A special highlight was a joint concert between the Cusine choir from Niiza and the Ruppiner Kantorei choir in 2009. The last visit by Japanese students to Neuruppin took place in August 2013, which underlines the ongoing connection through cultural encounters.
These initiatives show that exchange between cities not only promotes cultural dialogue, but also strengthens appreciation for each other's heritage and traditions.
