About Cape Tribulation Horse Riding

The riding experience on the Cape Tribulation begins at the Cape Tribulation Road, directly opposite the Myall Beach and just a few hundred meters from the most important restaurants and cafés in Cape Tribulation.

The most famous riding experience in Cape Tribulation with Cape Trib Horse Rides is a beach ride with a short meander through the tropical rainforest to the golden sandy beach of Myall Beach. Here visitors have the opportunity to guide their horse through the shallow, turquoise water.

The Cape Tribulation Riding experience takes about 90 minutes and is certainly one of the best activities in the region! This is a guided group tour with excellent, informative guides that you will inform about the local flora and fauna on the go.

Remember that this Daintree riding experience is quite far from Cairns and Port Douglas. You have to drive the picturesque Great Barrier Reef Drive to get here. So remember to plan enough time for the Daintree ferry!

Tips for a great riding experience in Cape Tribulation

Below I have put together some quick tips and information that will help you make the best of your trip.

  • Wear suitable clothing, including sealed shoes. The crew recommends long pants, but I wore shorts that was okay.
  • helmets are mandatory and are made available in the horse stables.
  • Selecting the weather is difficult in the tropics! Do not be discouraged when it rains, see it as part of the rainwald experience. Cape tribulation Horse Rides provides a rain jacket and a pack bag and water bottle holder in the rain.
  • arrive at least 15 minutes before your ride to get ready.
  • This experience is beginner -friendly, the staff is very professional and will teach them how to climb and ride a horse.
  • This is only a riding experience on foot. The team asks the riders not to encourage horses to trot or gallop.

What to expect: My experience

If you want to surprise the experience, I suggest booking a trip and skipping this section. For those among them who want to know what to expect at their Cape Tribulation Rider experience, I inserted this section of my trip with photos.

Sadge

We decided to take the afternoon at 2:30 p.m. The timing agreed well with low tide, which means that we had a lot of beach on which we could go for a walk with our horses, and also a lot of shallow water.

We arrived at the Cape Tribulation Horse Rides Stables about 15 minutes early, where we were greeted by Steve, the owner, and his many committed employees. Most animals are former racing horses who have had a hard life in the industry. Steve adopts her for her new home, where you have the opportunity to relax with a much less stressful job on a huge, beautiful rainforest property.

After we quickly filled out some documents, our guides gave us a helmet, optional riding shoes and instructions on how we should climb our assigned horses. The stable team was very helpful to explain to us how we climb, descend and control our horses.

The Cape Trib Horse Riding Property

After a short briefing, we set out for the ride to Myall Beach. The first stage of the trip includes a section of the beautiful property. This is a mixture of grassland and rainforest, with a small stream crossing.

I was really overwhelmed by how great the property was. The path meandered elegantly through the field with a spectacular mountain backdrop until we entered the forest.

Ride through the Daintree-Regenwald

Cape tribulation, it is really the place where the rainforest hits the reef! After we left the property, we crossed the street and entered a short section of the Daintree next to Myall Beach.

Our horses were well brought up and our guides were very friendly and informative. They taught us local plants and their traditional use in the kitchen, medicine and craft.

In my opinion, the short rainwaling third was just as epic as the beach ride! Apparently there is even a section in this way where the drivers can see a large 3-meter crocodile directly opposite the bank!

Unfortunately we were not so lucky on our trip. But if you discover one on yours, please let me know below. I would like to share your photos on this blog!

Ride on the beach of Cape Tribulation

The last stage of the riding tour on the Cape Tribulation was a walk on myall Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches in Cape tribulation. Here you can see the famous headland of the Kap and catch a good view of the reef on clear days.

Although ebb was, our guides led us and our horses into the shallow water in front of the beach. That was a clear highlight for me! It is also an outstanding reason why Cape tribulation is one of the best places to ride! In retrospect, I would say that a 90-minute beach trip is just the right time. This time frame allowed us to get the best out of experience, and it certainly didn't feel rushed. Our guides even jumped off on the beach to help us take a few photos of us together on our horses!
