About Cape Tribulation Horse Riding
The Cape Tribulation horseback riding experience begins on Cape Tribulation Road, directly opposite Myall Beach and just a few hundred meters from Cape Tribulation's main restaurants and cafes.
The most famous horse riding experience in Cape Tribulation with Cape Trib Horse Rides is a beach ride with a short meander through the tropical rainforest to the golden sands of Myall Beach. Here visitors have the opportunity to lead their horse through the shallow, turquoise water.
The Cape Tribulation horseback riding experience lasts approximately 90 minutes and is easily one of the best activities in the region! This is a guided group tour with excellent, informative guides who will educate you about the native flora and fauna along the way.
Keep in mind that this Daintree riding experience is quite a distance from Cairns and Port Douglas. You have to drive the scenic Great Barrier Reef Drive to get here. So remember to leave plenty of time for the Daintree ferry!

Tips for a great riding experience in Cape Tribulation
Below I've put together some quick tips and information to help you make the most of your trip.
- Tragen Sie geeignete Kleidung, einschließlich versiegelter Schuhe.

What to Expect: My Experience
If you want the experience to be a surprise, I suggest booking a trip and skipping this section. For those of you who want to know what to expect on your Cape Tribulation riding experience, I have included this section about my trip with photos.
Saddle up
We decided to take the afternoon trip at 2:30 p.m. The timing coincided well with low tide, meaning we had plenty of beach to walk our horses on and also plenty of shallow water.
We arrived at the Cape Tribulation Horse Rides Stables about 15 minutes early where we were greeted by Steve, the owner, and his many dedicated staff. Most of the animals are former racehorses who have had a hard life in the industry. Steve adopts them to their new home, where they have the opportunity to relax with a much less stressful job on a huge, beautiful rainforest property.
After quickly filling out some paperwork, our guides gave us a helmet, optional riding shoes, and instructions on how to mount our assigned horses. The stable crew was very helpful in explaining to us how to mount, dismount and control our horses using the reins.

The Cape Trib Horse Riding Property
After a short briefing we set off on the ride to Myall Beach. The first leg of the ride covers a section of the beautiful estate. This is a mix of grassland and rainforest, with a small stream crossing.
I was truly blown away by how amazing the property was. The path meandered elegantly through the field with spectacular mountain scenery until we entered the forest.

Horse riding through the Daintree Rainforest
Cape Tribulation, it is truly where the rainforest meets the reef! After leaving the property we crossed the road and entered a short section of the Daintree next to Myall Beach.
Our horses were well behaved and our guides were very friendly and informative. They taught us about native plants and their traditional uses in cooking, medicine and crafts.
In my opinion, the short rainforest ride was just as epic as the beach ride! Apparently there is even a section on this trail where riders can see a large 3 meter crocodile right across from the shore!
Unfortunately, we weren't so lucky on our trip. But if you spot one on yours, please let me know below. I would love to share your photos on this blog!

Horseback riding on Cape Tribulation beach
The final leg of the Cape Tribulation horseback riding tour was a walk along Myall Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches in Cape Tribulation. Here you can see the cape's famous headland and, on a clear day, get a good look at the reef.
Even though the tide was low, our guides led us and our horses into the shallow water off the beach. That was a clear highlight for me! It's also an outstanding reason why Cape Tribulation is one of the best places for horse riding!
Looking back, I would say a 90 minute beach trip is just the right amount of time. This time frame allowed us to get the most out of the experience and it certainly didn't feel rushed. Our guides even dropped off on the beach to help us get some photos of us together on our horses!
