Celebrity Cruises: 250 million for fantastic ship modernization!
Celebrity Cruises is implementing a major modernization program for the Solstice-class ships, investing over $250 million in improvements and redesigns. The first measures begin with the Celebrity Solstice, which is the first ship in the fleet to be modernized. The work is expected to be completed by March 2026 after making major changes in eight different areas. The ships, which measure an average of 122,000 gross tons and were built by the MEYER shipyard in Papenburg, will be comprehensively overhauled.
Each of the 1,479 cabins will be renovated to offer guests a modern and comfortable experience. The renovation will also see the creation of new bars and lounges, including the Boulevard Lounge, a show lounge, and the Boulevard Bar, located near this lounge. An upscale sports bar will be opened under the name Celebrity Barcade, which will enrich the leisure activities on board.
New culinary highlights and leisure activities
In addition to the new bars, there will also be innovative culinary offerings. The Trattoria Rossa, which boasts modern design and opulence, and the Fine Cut Steakhouse, a well-known restaurant from the Edge class celebrity ships, promise gastronomic highlights on the high seas.
Another focus is on the design of the open deck. This will be transformed into Sunset Park, which is approximately 2,000 square meters in size and combines high culinary standards with cocktails, lawn games and open-air concerts. Private cabanas and an expanded sunset bar will also be part of the innovations.
Extensive improvements are planned for suite guests. Redesigned suites and retreat area will provide an even more luxurious experience. Other upgraded areas include Café Al Bacio, Cellar Masters, the World Class Bar, Martini Bar, Pool Bar, Passport Bar as well as exclusive areas such as Blu for AquaClass guests and Luminae for Retreat guests. The Fitness Center and Camp at Sea will also receive an update.
Grand Voyage 2026/2027
A special highlight is the planned 111-day “Grand Voyage”, which will take place from mid-September 2026 to early January 2027. This cruise will visit a total of 55 destinations and offers guests the opportunity to discover the diversity and beauty of the regions visited. To ensure guests' comfort, they are typically booked on consecutive cruises on the same ship and in the same cabin.
Despite the bookings, there are some important notes for guests: Personal belongings may be left in the cabin during the transition from one cruise to another, even if passengers are required to leave the ship due to customs regulations. In certain cases it may be necessary to book another cabin, which must be taken into account the night before boarding.
Guests should ensure that they pack their luggage and leave it in the cabin on the last evening of the first cruise to ensure a hassle-free transfer to the new room on the morning of disembarkation.
