Diego Pooth surprises with victory at Let's Dance - a difficult trip!

2025, Deutschland

- The winners of the RTL show "Let’s Dance" 2025 have been determined: Diego Pooth and Ekaterina Leonova won the final round on May 23, 2025. Diego Pooth, 21 years old and son of the former beauty queen Verona Pooth, describes his experiences in the dance show as "damn difficult". At first, Pooth was skeptical whether he should participate in the show because he had no dance skills and his father, Franjo Pooth, advised him against participation.

Although Diego Pooth only took third place in the final freestyle, he achieved the surprising victory together with Leonova. In the 18-year history of the show there has never been a win for a third-placed participant. "I didn't believe in victory all the time," said Pooth after the show.

Ekaterina Leonova's impressive career

Ekaterina Leonova, 38 years old, won her fourth title in “Let’s Dance” with this victory. She started her career in the program in 2013 and finished third with Paul Janke. In the following years she was able to dance to the final with various partners:

 • 2015 she reached the final with Matthias Steiner and took third place.
 • 2017 she won her first season with Gil Ofarim.
 • 2018 followed the second victory with Ingolf Lück.
 • 2019 she won again, this time with Pascal Hens.
 • 2024 she reached the final with Detlef Soost and took third place again.

With a total of six final entrances and four victories, Leonova is the most successful professional dancer in the history of "Let’s Dance". It is only exceeded by Kathrin Menzinger and Massimo Sinató, each of whom won two titles.

The challenges of the competition

Preparation for the show was very intensive for Pooth and Leonova. The two often trained from 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Pooth fought with the choreographies and confessed that a particularly demanding scene in which he had to fall and scream on all four demanded great overcoming. Nevertheless, he learned to express his emotions during dancing and not to be ashamed of it.

After the end of the show, Diego Pooth plans to return to his university. However, his younger brother Rocco, 13, was also asked whether he would like to participate in "Let’s Dance", but is currently not interested.
