Filming on Sylt: Nord Nord Mord inspires fans despite concerns!
There is currently a state of emergency on the popular North Sea island of Sylt, triggered by the filming of the successful ZDF crime series “Nord Nord Mord”. Today, a section of the island's road is being transformed into an exciting film set. Peter Heinrich Brix, who acted as Commissioner Carl Sievers, was personally there and lent his distinctive presence to the events.
Camera teams have set up their technical equipment and installed extensive barriers near the studio of the radio station R.SH to make filming possible. R.SH moderator Carsten informed his followers about the exciting events in a Facebook post, which created a buzz on social media. Spectators and fans gave free rein to their joy and enthusiastically remembered their previous experiences as extras.
A look at the successful series
“Nord Nord Mord” regularly captivates up to 10 million viewers. The audience has increased significantly since the first episode was broadcast in April 2011, which attracted 4.2 million viewers. Particularly noteworthy is the episode “Sievers and the Murderous Turquoise,” which set a record with 10.32 million viewers in January 2022. The team of investigators around Carl Sievers, Ina Behrendsen (Julia Brendler) and Hinnerk Feldmann (Oliver Wnuk) ensures that the thrill is always there.
The next episode “Sievers and the Deep Sleep” will be broadcast on May 3, 2025 at 8:15 p.m. In this episode, Inspector Sievers is involuntarily involved in a murder, which will keep viewers on the edge of their seats.
Filming locations and production details
Sylt has been established as the main filming location for the series since the 1920s. The island's diverse landscape is reflected in the filming, which takes place at Lister Ellebogen, in the harbor of Hörnum, in Kampen and Westerland, among other places. In Westerland, spectacular scenes were filmed in the “Beach House” and at the music shell. In addition, some recordings also take place in Hamburg and the surrounding area, for example in the Ammersbeker town hall and in Bargfeld-Stegen.
Viewers can look forward to many new stories. Three more episodes have already been filmed, but no details have yet been announced for their broadcast dates. Planned titles for the new cases are “Sievers and the Silent Oysters,” “Sievers and the Song of the Whales,” and “Sievers and the Last Tango.” Filming on two of the new cases will begin at the end of April 2025.
Despite some critical voices that expressed concerns about the costs and effort of public television, the joy and excitement prevailed among those present on Sylt. The enthusiasm for filming is unbroken and fans of the series can look forward to exciting new episodes.
