Düsseldorf delegation explores digital solutions for healthcare in India
A business delegation from Düsseldorf traveled to India on January 30, 2026 to promote digitalization, innovation and international value chains. The focus here is on the exchange with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). TCS, founded in Mumbai in 1968 and part of the Tata Group, has had a branch in Germany since 1991 and has operated a delivery center in Düsseldorf since 2008. In 2023, TCS received the NRW Global Business Award for its outstanding achievements.
During their stay, the delegation visited TCS to explore digital solutions for public administrations. TCS presented successful examples from India on the digitization of citizen services and aims to identify transferable approaches for European municipalities. Digitalization can bring numerous benefits to healthcare, including faster communication, more efficient administrative processes and improved patient care, as TCS's initiative and exchange illustrate.
MedX reception and international cooperation
Another exciting part of the trip was taking part in the MedX Reception, a pitch competition for young healthcare companies. The winner of the competition receives a wildcard for the MedX@Düsseldorf program, which aims to promote innovative health tech start-ups. The delegation highlights the importance of such initiatives in supporting technological developments in healthcare to improve the quality of care and address challenges in the sector.
In addition, the delegation will also visit the MT India Healthcare Awards at the Medical Fair India, which recognizes achievements in the Indian healthcare sector. These awards are a reflection of the evolving healthcare landscape in India and the role of digitalization in it.
Sustainable procurement and free trade agreements
On January 31st, the delegation will visit Techno Design, a sourcing specialist for the textile industry. Sustainable procurement and the opportunities of the EU-India free trade agreement are discussed here. This agreement promises benefits such as the elimination of import tariffs and improved competitiveness, which is of great importance for the companies involved.
The delegation also plans to visit the manufacturing plant Himanshu Apparels Pvt. Ltd. to visit in Gurugram. Mayor Dr. Stephan Keller emphasizes the importance of the free trade agreement for cooperation and growth between Germany and India. Such visits and discussions are crucial to building long-term partnerships.
