Exploration of the Hinkedanan Cave in Dauis, Bohol
The Haggeranan cave is a place that I definitely would not have expected in Bohol. If you crawl down the narrow entrance, you come into a huge, naturally illuminated underground cave with a turquoise blue lagoon.
It is certainly a fairly epic cave. When I went, however, it was a little overcrowded, which the ambience did not add.
What is the Hinkedanan Cave?
Hagagnanan means "conductor -shaped" cave. The story states that the cave was accidentally discovered by a farmer when he roded his country. The farmer then built a ladder through the hole so that the village could enjoy the cool water underneath. It is very controversial when this happened, but it is said that the villagers used the cave to hide during the Second World War from the invasion of the Japanese imperial army.
cave daily
The Haggetanan cave is a 100 m wide grotto with large limestone formations. There are several large stalagmites and stalactites that throw impressive shadows when they are illuminated by the holes above.
The entrance to the cave is very tight and short. However, it will not be long before the cave opens to clear a large cave. From here you can see the epic blue fresh water.

Is the cave a tourist trap?
While I was definitely impressed by the beauty of the Haggetanan cave, I personally found that it was a little too full. Already at the entrance you can see how much industry has accumulated around the attraction. There are stands, sellers and even a ticket office to see the cave.
Although I appreciate it that the locals are rightly pulling out of their natural wonders, I am not sure whether I would visit this place again. The cave was tight and full of people swimming with life jackets. This made it difficult to move at all, let alone explore.
If you decide to visit the Haggetanan cave, I hope that you have a better experience than I do.
Entry fee for the Hingedanan Cave
The entrance fee for the hinged manan cave is 25 pesos per person. However, if you want to swim in azure water, you have to pay 100 pesos extra. I decided to visit the cave without buying a swimming card.
Since the cave is on private ground, all the money goes to the owner. When you consider how popular the page has become, I bet that she is quite satisfied with the discovery of your ancestor.
All in all, the Hingshanan Cave is certainly an impressive grotto with a unique story. If you are nearby and have 30 minutes and 25 pesos, then definitely take a look at it. However, if you are looking for a quiet place to relax and explore, I would probably suggest skipping it.
