Experience Tourism Day: Free tours in Bamberg Land!
Next Sunday, May 25, 2025, Tourism Day will take place in the Bamberger Land Farmers' Museum in Frensdorf. The event, which is organized by the tourism cooperation “Bamberg and the Bamberger Land” and the BAMBERG Tourism & Congress Service in collaboration with the economic development department of the Bamberg district office, promises a varied program for the citizens of the city and district of Bamberg.
The organizers invite you to numerous activities from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The focus is on the motto “Holiday at home”, which impressively showcases the diversity of the regional culture and the beauty of the surrounding area. Visitors can look forward to free guided tours on various topics, including exciting insights into Franconian tradition and cultural peculiarities.
Diverse program
A highlight will be the special exhibition “Cleanliness at all times! Hygiene in the countryside”, which focuses on the development and importance of hygiene in rural areas. There are also hands-on activities such as a soap laboratory, which is suitable for both adults and children. The gastronomic offerings range from hearty Sunday roasts to coffee and cake in the hospitable environment of the “Schmaus” inn.
In addition, a small tourism fair takes place in the museum hall, at which ten partners from the region present their offerings. Exciting competitions with attractive prizes round off the family program. Child-friendly activities such as a wheel of fortune are available for children.
Guided tours and arrival
Participants have the opportunity to take part in guided tours, including a hike with a pond farmer's insight and a herb hike with expert Heidi Rippel, who introduces the world of local herbs and offers tastings. A guided bike tour from Bamberg to the Farmers' Museum is also part of the program, and there is also the Cisterscapes excursion to the former Cistercian monastery in Schlüsselau, which will particularly appeal to culture lovers.
There are various ways to get to the Farmers Museum. A free bus shuttle, the BambergBüsla, offers a convenient connection with hourly departures from Bamberg ZOB. There are also sufficient parking spaces available, including at the town hall, shopping market and swimming lake. The organizers point out that the bus has space for 25 people, but there is no right to transportation and the bus is not barrier-free.
