Free bike week: Discover the Baltic Sea holiday region!

From May 19th to 24th, 2025, the Baltic Sea holiday region is hosting a free May Bicycle Week aimed at all cycling enthusiasts. Daily guided tours depart at 10 a.m. at rotating locations, and there are no specific fitness level requirements. The only requirement is that participants are fit and motivated, enjoy cycling and are willing to explore the region. The first tour on Monday, May 19th, entitled “On the trail of the past”, starts at the Dahme Tourism Service. This route is around 45 kilometers long and is particularly suitable for e-bikes. The path leads through the following places: Dahme, Lensahn, Damlos and others. The tour “Tour to Hof Klostersee” follows on Tuesday with a length of approx. 33 kilometers, starting at the church square in Lensahn. On Wednesday we continue with a longer tour of approx. 62 kilometers to the Großenbrode yacht shipyard, which starts in Kellenhusen.

  • Freitag, 23. Mai: „Auf den Spuren der Piraten“ – 40 km, Start: Seebrückenvorplatz in Grömitz
  • Samstag, 24. Mai: „Auf zum höchsten Punkt“ – 50 km oder 30 km, Start: Kloster Cismar

The last tour leads to the highest point in the region, the Bungsberg, and offers two entry options with different lengths. The Baltic Sea cycle path stretches over approx. 430 kilometers and leads through beautiful terrain that is also part of the Baltic Sea holiday region, including Grömitz, Kellenhusen, Dahme and Grube. The best time to travel is between June and August, although April and October can also offer good weather conditions.

For those arriving by train, the destination stations Lensahn and Neustadt in Holstein are available. It is advisable to obtain information about taking your bike with you in advance in order to make parts of the trip stress-free. The second bike week this year will take place from September 15th to 20th, and the first details are already expected.
