Attention creative children: ARD children's radio night on November 28th!

Preparations for the ARD Children's Radio Night 2025 are in full swing. On November 28th, 2025 from 8:05 p.m. the radio will open for a wonderful journey into the cold season. By popular demand from young listeners, this year's motto is “Cold, snow and penguins at the South Pole”. The event will last until 1 a.m. and can be heard not only on NDR 2, but also on numerous other radio stations and in the live stream on wdrmaus.de and the ARD Audiothek. The ND reports that the program offers almost five hours of concentrated entertainment, including stories, music, informative snow features and hands-on activities.

A highlight of this children's radio night is the anticipation competition, which looks for creative winter sports disciplines. Children aged 7 to 13 are invited to submit ideas such as building a snowman or throwing icicles. The best three suggestions will be implemented in mini radio plays and broadcast during the event. The deadline for these creative submissions is October 15, 2025. RBB and NDR also emphasize that there will be a “Children’s Radio Night Class” for the first time this year. Schools can apply until November 1, 2025. The winning class can look forward to a visit from presenter Tina Gentner, who will broadcast live into the class party.

Special features of the program

The program is accompanied by exciting content, including the heartfelt, four-part participatory radio play series “The Knock of the Ice Graber”, which was produced in collaboration with SWR and rbb. Children reporters have the opportunity to visit a real research ship and explore everyday life on the ice. The offer is supplemented by a multi-part comedy with Grandpa Schlüter and the OHRENBÄR audio story “Striped Snow” by Hubert Schirneck.

A participation booklet ensures active participation, which contains program as well as decoration, game and craft ideas, experiments and recipes. Children can participate in the show through the online guestbook, telephone or email and share what happened at their stay-awake parties. It is not unusual for many children to celebrate the children's radio night with friends at schools, clubs or at home at appropriate parties.

A communal experience

The ARD Children's Radio Night is being held for the nineteenth time and is based on the NDR "Listening Night for Children", which was launched in 2004. It is a joint broadcast from unbeatable partners: BR, hr, MDR, NDR, Radio Bremen, rbb, SWR, SR and WDR. The entire program will be broadcast simultaneously nationwide and allows children aged 6 to 13 to take part in an unforgettable nighttime adventure.

If you don't want to miss the special radio night song “Schnee” by musician Mr. Jan, you can also download it. The ARD children's radio night promises a complete winter experience and invites you to discover the magic of the cold season and its fantastic stories.
