Maritime spectacle: SAiL 2025 in Bremerhaven with light show and cruise ships!
On August 13, 2025, the maritime event SAiL 2025 opened its doors in Bremerhaven. The event is run under the patronage of Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and offers a fascinating windjammer festival that takes place every five years. Bremerhaven's mayor Melf Grantz and Bremen's mayor Andreas Bovenschulte were also present and welcomed the numerous guests.
SAiL 2025 features an impressive fleet of over 250 ships, including many three- and four-masters. Artists such as Johannes Oerding, Ronan Keating and No Angels perform during the five-day festival, which offers numerous highlights for maritime enthusiasts.
Cruise ships and calls
Six cruise ships are expected at the mouth of the Weser for the event, including the Phoenix Reisen ships MS Amadea, MS Amera and MS Deutschland, which will arrive on August 14th as part of a special quadruple call. The ships will remain on site for either one or two nights, with MS Artania joining the fleet on August 14th. The starts are planned as follows:

The only kissing mouth ship of the year, the AIDAsol, will dock on August 16th and is part of a six-day Scotland cruise from Hamburg to Bremerhaven and a six-day Norway cruise from Bremerhaven to Hamburg.
Special attractions
Another highlight of SAiL 2025 is a breathtaking drone and light show on August 16th at 10:50 p.m., during which 300 flying objects will rise into the night sky. The event will conclude on August 17th with the arrival of the MS Artania and the Mein Schiff 2, which will provide the setting for an impressive ship parade.
