Mekaki Beach is a long and wide white sandy beach on the south coast of Lombok. Although it takes a little time to come here, the Mekaki Beach (Pentai Mekaki) is worth it for a day trip to one of the best hidden jewels by Lombok.

How do you get to the beach of Mekaki?

The Mekaki Beach is somewhat away from the regular tourist flows from Lombok. To get here, I would recommend staying in Sekotong. In this way you explore one of the best adventure regions of Lombok.

From the port of Sekotong it is only a short 30-minute scooter ride over the mountains on a good, paved road to reach the beach of Mekaki. Bend from the port Pelangan Gili on the main street to Sekotong on the left onto a street known as "Mekaki Road" and follow the whole path up the hill. When you have reached the top, you have a breathtaking view of Mekaki Bay and far out to the Indian Ocean. From here they slowly slide down the hill until they reach the white sandy beach of Mekaki Beach.

For those who stay in Kuta Lombok, it is a much longer journey to reach Mekaki Beach that lasts up to 2 hours.

What you can expect at the Mekaki Beach Lombok

Mekaki Beach is completely undeveloped and a real insider tip on the coast! The sand stretches around the bay and ends on a rugged cliff line. We spent hours exploring the beach, running from one end to another and swimming in a clear, turquoise water.

Be only warned that the currents should be quite strong here. Make sure you are a safe swimmer before going into the water with a strong waves on days.

Mekaki Beach is also considered a solid surf beach. Right off the coast you will find a decent sand break where you stop with your scooter. There is also a rocky reef that apparently lies in the middle of the bay. A little further down from this point, the waves usually become Shore dumpers that crash on the thick, deeply sinking sand. This is perfect for bodysurfing.

On the way back from the beach, I strongly recommend taking the brand new mountain road that leads the whole route around the south coast of Seghotong and back to the north.

After you have reached the tip of the hill, you can turn right instead of driving down directly to Pelangan. This paved road is one of the best streets in Lombok and offers some incredible opportunities to stop and photograph some jewels from viewpoints!

Because this reign is a bit hidden. In order to save money for transport, I would recommend that a few nights in this largely unexplored part of Lombok, Indonesia, stay to see the best things you can do. Here are my top tips for inexpensive accommodations.
