On July 13, 2025, a car with a Polish registration was taken out of traffic on the A96 at the Neuravensburg exit. There was a Ukrainian family in the vehicle, consisting of the 24-year-old father, the 25-year-old mother and their three children. The incident attracted the attention of the Lindau Federal Police, who discovered several worrying points during the inspection.

The children were sitting in the back seat without seat belts and the necessary safety features for the children were missing. When the driver was checked, it turned out that he was able to show a Ukrainian driver's license, but it had counterfeit features. In addition, the father was unable to present any travel documents, and the mother and children also did not have valid documents for entry and stay in Germany.

The check by the Federal Police revealed that the family had previously sought protection proceedings in Switzerland, but had not received a valid residence permit. The situation of the mother, who was wanted on two arrest warrants, was particularly alarming. She was issued with both a pre-trial arrest warrant and an executive arrest warrant, for which she would have had to pay a fine of over 2,400 euros. Due to these circumstances, the woman was taken to a correctional facility.

Extensive investigations are now underway against the father. He is suspected of having smuggled people in and is also facing allegations of unauthorized entry, illegal stay without a passport and forgery of documents. He is also being investigated for driving without a license and violating road traffic regulations.
