The Nambung waterfall is an unusual coastal phenomenon in which the rushing tides and waves create a salt water waterfall directly at the top of the Nambung beach.

Although it is admittedly not as spectacular as some of the other waterfalls in Lombok, I had to look at it myself when I heard about it for the first time.

How do you get to the beach of Nambung?

Nambung Beach is located on the south coast of the island of Lombok, west of Kuta Lombok. To get here, it is a pretty long journey that can take a little more than an hour with the Kuta Lombok motorcycle.

If an epic Lombok beach shopping adventure sounds like your trip, I would definitely suggest that the Nambung Beach Waterfall will be added to the travel route. Although this will probably be the last of the day after having passed the popular beach Selong Balanak, Mawi Beach and Mawun Beach.

However, remember that you have taken the wrong way when Google is trying to head you to the end of the Beach of Torok (Pantai Torok). For the last section of the coast, you have to drive up the hill and around it to finally get back down to the Nambung Beach. My best advice is to follow the main street and not try to turn the coast down on an unpaved road.

In search of the Pantai Nambung Beach Wasserfall

As soon as you have arrived on the beach, you can park your scooter in the beach village. Go all the way to the left headland on the beach and follow the rock to the point. On a good day with a large waves, you can see the phenomenon of the waterfall on the beach of Lombok.

About the waterfall Pantai Nambung and what you can expect

No, the Nambung waterfall is not a constantly flowing waterfall on the beach. In reality, it is more of an illusion of waves that crash on the flat rocks. Under the right conditions, however, it is a fairly epic spectacle. Among the locals of Lombok, the beach waterfall is known as Air Terjun Pantai Nambung, which translates to Beach Waterfall.

I guarantee that you will not find many tourists here. So if you want to escape the hectic hustle and bustle of Kuta Lombok in favor of a more local adventure, this could be the right one.

The salt water basin around Pantai Nambung becomes flatter at low tide, which means that the "Lombok beach water case" is larger during this time. With flood it can be a bit dangerous to go there because the waves actually break into the pools.

Unfortunately we didn't know that during our visit, but we were still sitting there and admired the spectacle on a clear Lombok day from a distance.

Another attraction next to the Nambung Beach Waterfall is the local turtles. The water from Nambung Beach has a flawless turquoise bloom and is the home of apparently hundreds of green sea turtles.
