New hand luggage rules: What travelers need to know about Condor and ITA!
Condor and ITA Airways recently revised their hand luggage rules. The new regulations affect travelers on all routes and apply regardless of booking class. In a move aimed primarily at simplifying the baggage management process, ITA Airways has introduced new weight restrictions.
According to the new regulations of Ruhr24 Each piece of hand luggage must not exceed a maximum weight of 8 kg. The maximum dimensions for hand luggage are 55 x 35 x 25 cm. In addition, travelers can take a personal item such as a briefcase or handbag, the dimensions of which cannot exceed 45 x 36 x 20 cm.
Excess baggage rules
If hand luggage exceeds the specified dimensions or weight, it must be checked in. This may result in additional costs. The airline is confronting its passengers with this, who may have to adjust their travel plans to meet the new requirements.
Condor has also made changes and is offering a free piece of hand luggage on certain new city routes. The dimensions are set to a maximum of 55 x 40 x 20 cm, while a small bag may not be larger than 40 x 30 x 10 cm. At Condor, too, the total weight of hand luggage is 8 kg.
Additional baggage policies
On other routes, Condor charges the Economy Zero tariff, where only one small bag is the luggage limit. Travelers may need to add additional luggage if their small bag is not enough to carry all the items they need.
ITA Airways regulations also include specific requirements for checking carry-on baggage. Passengers should have their weight and dimensions checked at designated checkpoints before boarding. Baggage that is not allowed to pass through the checkpoint will not be accepted on board, which may result in delays.
Restrictions on personal items
Special restrictions apply to the transport of certain items. Items such as scissors, pocket knives and realistic replica firearms are prohibited in the cabin. In addition, electronic cigarettes and pipes are not allowed to be carried, while lighters may only be carried on the body.
Devices powered by lithium batteries, such as hoverboards, are not permitted as hand or checked baggage. The regulation regarding liquids in hand luggage will be raised again to the upper limit of 100 ml per container from September 1, 2024. These must be packaged in a clear, resealable plastic bag.
