Bettina Bunge leaves TASH: New challenges in Luxembourg!

The tourism industry in Schleswig-Holstein is facing significant change. Bettina Bunge, the long-time managing director of the Schleswig-Holstein Tourism Agency (TASH), will move to Luxembourg at the end of October 2023. From November 1, 2023, she will take over the sole management of the national Luxembourg Convention Bureau, where she will be responsible for global marketing for the conference and congress country. The change was recently announced by Minister Eric Thill during the IMEX in Frankfurt am Main, which made the industry sit up and take notice.

Dr. Bettina Bunge, 57 years old, has been in charge of tourism marketing in Schleswig-Holstein for the last eight years. Under her supervision, the state achieved record results, with more than 9.4 million guest arrivals and over 38 million overnight stays in 2024. This placed Schleswig-Holstein in fifth place among the federal states in terms of guest arrivals, behind Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg, North Rhine-Westphalia and Lower Saxony. Bunge said that it was an exciting task to manage tourism marketing and management for Schleswig-Holstein and, as she emphasized, she will miss the state both professionally and privately.

Successes and farewells

State Secretary for Economic Affairs Julia Carstens regretted Bunge’s decision and praised her successes at TASH. Among other things, Bunge has significantly professionalized state marketing at home and abroad and reorganized various collaborations. Your successor will now have an important task, as the position will be advertised promptly in order to find a new management team for the tourism agency.

In Luxembourg, Bunge will launch the marketing strategy with the slogan "Meet. Connect. Accelerate." move forward further. She succeeds François Lafont, who held the position from June 2019 to March 2024. Her move marks both a personal and professional new beginning for Bunge in an important European center for trade fairs and congresses.

The industry is saying goodbye to a valued leader who had a significant influence on the development of tourism in Schleswig-Holstein. The transition is now highly anticipated as Bunge prepares for her new role and the challenges at the Luxembourg Convention Bureau. This means that not only Bunge, but also the entire Schleswig-Holstein region will benefit from its previous achievements and the newly created market position.
