Fruit tree pruning and apple grafting: exploring nature in Lippe!

Lippe Tourismus & Marketing GmbH's popular NaTour adventure tour event series is starting again and offering a variety of interesting events from February to April 2024. Participants can look forward to five exciting events that revolve around the topics of nature and gardening.

One of the highlights is the nature experience tour on the topic of fruit tree pruning. This will take place on Saturday, February 21, 2024, at 11 a.m. at the Begatal distillery estate in Dörentrup-Humfeld. Under the guidance of Friedhelm Begemann, the participants learn how to properly prune fruit trees and learn interesting facts about the history of the estate. The orchard with various types of fruit also receives particular attention.

Diverse events

Another attractive offer is the “Refining Apple Tree Nature Experience” event, which is planned for April 4, 2024. This practical exercise on grafting trees also begins at 11 a.m. The meeting point is Silbergrund 13 in Horn-Bad Meinberg, and Frank Meier, a trained nursery gardener, will lead the meeting. Participants are invited to bring their own rice, which should be as strong as a pencil and one year old. A sharp knife and rose scissors should also not be forgotten.

The upcoming nature experience tours also include the “Hiking with Alpacas” event on April 13, 2024, which offers participants the opportunity to get to know the gentle animals better. This will take place at 11 a.m. at the Alpakahof Möller in Bad Meinberg.

More exciting events

On April 26, 2024 at 4 p.m., the Wendlinghausen Energy Village will be presented with a tour of the Dörentrup Innovation Center. Participants can look forward to information about sustainable energy production and visits to the photovoltaic system and the biogas plant.

On the same day, but already at 10 a.m., the nature experience tour “Refining the Apple Tree” is on the program. This takes place at the Krämer tree nursery in Detmold and offers both theoretical information and practical exercises on grafting.

If you would like to find out more about the importance of bees, you should not miss the tour on the Schwelentrup bee adventure trail. These events are scheduled for April 27, 2024 at 10 a.m. and April 28, 2024 at 2 p.m. Participants are invited to observe bees in their homes and receive a beekeeper's veil as part of the tour. Long pants and long-sleeved jackets are recommended.
