May 21, 2025 brings Peter Maffay not only looking back on his remarkable career as a rock musician, but also on his passion for motorcycles and cars. Maffay, who recently celebrated his 65th birthday, is not only active on stage, but is also an enthusiastic motorcyclist who regularly goes on tours. Most recently he rode with his son, which underlines his commitment to the next generation. Maffay's love of motorcycling began in his youth with a 175cc CZ, and he received his motorcycle license at the age of 18, having previously ridden a Horex Regina 250.

His music still fills him with all his heart. His new album reflects his experiences as a motorcyclist, with the film “Easy Rider” having a profound influence on him. Although Maffay was never a member of a traditional motorcycle club, he belongs to the Zombies in Nuremberg and actively pursues his hobby.

Vehicle fleet and personal preferences

Peter Maffay is not only a rock musician, but also a true car lover. His impressive fleet of vehicles includes a Harley-Davidson Softail, which was given to him for his 30th stage anniversary. Another Harley, which was bought from him by his ex-wife Tania as part of a bet, is also one of his possessions. He has also been driving a VW Golf R 4Motion with a whopping 310 hp for some time, which he personally picked up in Wolfsburg. A classic in his collection is the Porsche 964, while he also owns a VW sedan and has a weakness for vintage tractors.

Maffay is an active driver who travels a lot to relax after concerts. He describes himself as a “terrible passenger,” which underlines his preference for active driving. Despite his fame, he prefers traveling with his family in a VW bus rather than staying in luxury hotels. His Bullis include a 16-year-old and an Amarok, which he has been driving for 14 years.

Commitment to children and the environment

Maffay is also heavily involved in social issues outside of music. His collaboration with the VW Employees Foundation and the Peter Maffay Foundation has existed since 2015 and focuses on supporting children. For Maffay, it is of great importance to educate children early on about environmental and climate protection, which guides him in many of his projects. During a press event in Mallorca, he also appeared sporty and came by bike, which underlines his healthy lifestyle.
