Spend the night like a farmer: The first threshing machine hotel in the world!
Find out everything about the first threshing machine hotel in Wölkisch, the outdoor pool season in Bilzbad and current developments in Klipphausen.

Spend the night like a farmer: The first threshing machine hotel in the world!
In Wölkisch, a small district, a particularly curious overnight experience is offered: the “Villa Wölkchen”. Falko and Susann Radtke rent out a sleeping cabin on an old threshing machine there. This property is considered the first threshing machine hotel in the world and has been in use since 2023. Another threshing machine hotel is already being planned, which will further promote the idea of creative travel in the region.
With summer approaching, preparations for the outdoor pool season are also in full swing. The Bilzbad outdoor pool in Radebeul will not open until the end of May 2023, in contrast to previous years, where it usually opened its doors in mid-May. This delay is due to a staff shortage, with two employees missing compared to the previous year. Due to this staffing situation, the pool will remain closed on Mondays and Tuesdays to ensure the necessary care.
Outdoor pool season and promotions
In order to enable the outdoor pool to be open continuously during the summer holidays, sauna operations in the Krokofit will be paused on two days a week. Numerous activities are planned for the season, including swimming courses, aqua fitness and a dog bathing day. The Bilzbad is not only a place for relaxation, but also has an interesting history: Founded in 1905 by Friedrich Eduard Bilz, who propagated the benefits of light and air baths, it has been attracting people for over a century. A wave pool, purchased in 1911, added additional appeal.
The outdoor pools in the Goltzscha and Großenhain region will also open soon, but some pools have increased their prices slightly. These developments demonstrate the continued interest in swimming opportunities, which particularly increases in the warmer months.
Wind power and local history
The region also has a remarkable local history. Richard Hirschberg, mayor of Meißen in the second half of the 19th century, was largely responsible for the construction of the railway bridge and the development of the Triebischtal. His great-grandson recently visited the city and brought back a piece of family tradition.
The preparations for the outdoor pool season and the ongoing controversies surrounding renewable energies show how dynamic and complex the Meissen region and the surrounding area is. The region remains particularly lively with creative accommodation options and a rich historical heritage.
