Season opening in Salzburg: Mozart and Prokofiev in the Festspielhaus!

This year's concert series begins on September 24th as part of the Salzburg Cultural Association, which features special highlights from both classical and jazz. The concerts will take place from September 24th to 26th at 7 p.m. in the Great Festival Hall. A special event is the Friday concert, which marks the opening event, with the celebrated soloist Akiko Suwanai, who will present Sergei Prokofiev's First Violin Concerto, one of the most important of the 20th century. Weekend.at reports on this important opening.

The concerts on Wednesday and Thursday await the audience with the Canadian pianist Angela Hewitt, who plays all of Mozart's piano concertos as part of her series “The Mozart Odyssey”. Particularly outstanding is the performance of the piano concerto KV 467, which will be performed in Salzburg. Hewitt will be accompanied by the renowned Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg under the direction of Andrey Boreyko.

Don Quixote: A literary and musical masterpiece

One of the cultural highlights of this season is the performance of Richard Strauss' tone poem "Don Quixote", which takes the audience on a musical journey through the world of Miguel de Cervantes' literary monument. With his setting, Strauss creates an impressive connection to the story of the knight Don Quixote, who fights against windmills and strives for his imaginary lover Dulcinea. In the Sinfonia concertante, the solo cello, played by Florian Simma, embodies the main character, while Sancho Panza is portrayed by the viola. SN.at emphasizes that the combination of Mozart's piano concerto and Strauss' tone poem offers an extraordinary concert experience.

The Salzburg Cultural Association, under the aegis of star violinist Benjamin Schmid, invites you to discover these artistic masterpieces. In addition to the excellent music, the opportunity for SN card holders is also of particular interest: You benefit from 1+1 free on single tickets in categories 1-5 as well as a permanent advantage of 10% discount on single tickets in advance (max. 2 tickets). Further information and tickets are available online.

This opening promises an unforgettable series of concerts that will not only attract classical music lovers, but also enrich Salzburg's cultural life.
