Serious accident in Mexico: two -year -old Olli fights for survival!

In the tragic context of a vacation in Mexico, the Staub family from Heidenheim, Baden-Württemberg, suffered a traffic accident seriously injured. Olli, a two -year -old boy, and his brother Oliver, who is only one year old, have been seriously injured. The accident occurred in Zihuatanejo, when the family van, a Toyota sienna, collided with a money transporter and was then thrown against a lamppost. While Oliver was in a coma for a week and needed extensive medical treatments, Olli was so seriously injured that initial forecasts about his chances of survival were extremely pessimistic. Nevertheless, after spending 39 days in the hospital, Olli is not recovering to Germany.

The circumstances of return to Germany for Olli are extremely complicated because he has to recover for a long time. The little boy, who broke several cervical vertebrae and suffers from paraplegia, sometimes shows in the body and learns to communicate with a sign language. Thera-Peutische support is essential for him, and the family lives temporarily in the house of Olli's in-laws in Tacambaro, Mexico, where Olli's father-in-law has converted a party room into a hospital room. You will receive support from three nurses who help in the time of his recovery.

The health state of Oliver

for Oliver, who suffered serious injuries and was 20 minutes without oxygen, the medical forecast now looks more positive. Doctors pointed out that he had no brain damage, even though he has to struggle with an upper cervical vertebral fracture (C1 to C3). A total of three other operations in the chest area and the stomach are necessary before Oliver can come home in 8 to 12 weeks. His future room will be equipped with a ventilator to ensure the necessary supply. The family was able to count on an impressive wave of solidarity: a fundraising campaign has collected over 70,000 euros to relieve the financial worries of the family.

The emotional stress of the family

The emotional burden for the Staub family is enormous. Ollis brother Oliver had to spend most of his first birthday in the hospital, and even Olli's second birthday fell on June 1st, which he spent in the intensive care unit. On June 4, Olli was released from the hospital, and the family plans to celebrate his birthday on June 5, with gifts that will include Stitch-T shirts. However, the return to Germany will be impossible for the family for at least a year, which increases the difficulties in this difficult time.
