Self is breaking new ground: Modern urban development for tourism and traffic!

The city of Selb faces significant redesign measures as part of urban development, which in particular focus on tourism, traffic connections and the upgrading of the city entrance. The urban conversion areas "Selb-West 1" and "Selb-West 2" are currently being actively developed, such as Hochfranken-Live.de

In the urban area of Selb-West 1, the first steps such as the dismantling of experienced buildings have already been carried out. A modern motorhome parking space has been set up, and five additional parking spaces and the construction of a boarding house or motels with around 50 rooms will be planned in the future. Optionally, gastronomy is also integrated into the concept, while overnight cabins for promoting bike tourism are in prospect. This area benefits from its location on national bike paths and in the immediate vicinity of the highway.

traffic realignment

In the course of the development of SELB-West 2, a traffic reorganization is also sought. This includes, among other things, the construction of a roundabout, which connects the new city area "Neue Mitte Selb" and the planned Factory Outlet Center (FOC). The Heinestraße should be expanded as a central traffic axis to the city center in order to promote both car and bicycle traffic. The measures take place in the context of existing development plans with the aim of a modern, sustainable urban redevelopment.

The city council has taken note of the subsequent use concept in a session. This concept is adapted to the government of Upper Franconia before a final coordination in order to meet the specific needs of the city. Wolfgang Kreil (CSU) introduced a proposal to renaming the boarding house into "living / trade", and the demarcation towards Heinestraße and Bahnhofstrasse is also to be revised.

optimization of the cityscape

In addition to the renovation projects, extensive developments in traffic routing are planned. Variant 1 of the new traffic routing stipulates that Ludwigstraße remains passable. A one -way solution with access from the marketplace and exit to Schillerstrasse is implemented. The traffic regulations in the crossing streets do not change to ensure smooth traffic management.

In order to further optimize the cityscape, numerous new tree plantings are planned. These are intended to give the street space a friendlier atmosphere. A two -row avenue is created in the center of Ludwigstraße, while the edge areas are preserved on one side. Underground rigoles to irrigate the trees and the buffering of heavy rain events are also planned to increase ecological sustainability.

For accessibility, a level space with barrier -free access to buildings is arranged to buildings. The street scene is provided with granite plasters to create a uniform and harmonious appearance. The renewal of the street lighting as well as the introduction of new equipment elements such as seating, bicycle parkers and information boards are part of this comprehensive urban development package, so Selb.de .
