The new documentationINTERTANGO, produced by passionate tango dancer Hanne Weyh, shows tango as an intercultural phenomenon that connects people worldwide. The film, which was made in 2019 and has a running time of 62 minutes, is available in Spanish and English with German subtitles. It is an emotional adventure journey through the world of tango enthusiasts, also known as “aficionados” ( Cineplex ).
InINTERTANGOVarious protagonists are introduced, all of whom have their own relationship to tango. This includes Naoko, a Japanese woman who works as a tango DJ in Buenos Aires and successfully asserts herself in this male-dominated world. Iftikhar, a Pakistani, lives a double life and dedicates himself to teaching tango in his homeland. Mila, a Russian woman, is faced with a conflict between her desire to have children and her passion for tango. Finally, Rodrigo gives insights into tango as a constant discovery and experiment.
Emotional stories and cultural connections
The documentary highlights the emotional adventures of tango enthusiasts and how tango overcomes cultural barriers. Viewers get the opportunity to experience not only the dance, but also the stories of the people behind it. After the screening, a question-and-answer session with director Hanne Weyh will be offered, allowing viewers to delve deeper into the subject matter ( Movie house ).
The event takes place in the CineBar, where guests can also indulge in culinary delights. Colombian specialties round off the experience and DJ Jorge Talquenca provides musical accompaniment during the tango evening “Noche Rioplatense”.
