Over 650 pop fans celebrate for education: three schools for Zanzibar!

On May 22, 2025, the “Night of the German Schlager” event took place on Fuerteventura, which attracted more than 650 Schlager fans from Germany. The gala was held at the R2 Rio Calma Hotel and had a significant goal: to raise funds to build a new school in Zanzibar. In total, the event raised an impressive 58,470 euros, which was not only enough for the planned school, but also enabled a total of three new schools to be built thanks to two spontaneous donations from guests.

Among others, well-known artists such as Peter Orloff, Claudia Jung, Graham Bonney, Stefanie Hertel, Nicole, Olaf Henning and Semino Rossi appeared on stage. These artists waived their fees in order to pay even more attention to the good cause. The event impressively shows what positive effects music and community can have.

Additional activities and program items

In addition to the gala evening, the event was complemented by a pool party with DJ Goofy Förster. Reiner Meutsch, the founder of FLY & HELP, and Peter Orloff encouraged the guests to take part in fundraising activities by jumping into the pool, which was celebrated with great applause. These additional actions helped lift the spirit of the event and motivate guests to support.

The newly planned school buildings in Zanzibar will each house three classrooms, replacing dilapidated structures in which up to 120 children were taught per room. The construction of these schools is part of a broader program by FLY & HELP, which has built over 950 schools worldwide and provided educational opportunities to more than 190,000 children in 57 countries. Reiner Meutsch warmly thanked the guests for their support and emphasized the great commitment of the artists.

This successful event exemplifies the possibilities of the interaction of music, community and social responsibility. The positive effects of the “Night of the German Schlager” show how important commitment and solidarity are today in order to bring about real change in the education system of developing countries.
