Over half of Austrians invest vacation money in travel!
A recent survey by Vienna.at and the opinion research institute Integral shows that a good half of Austrians, more precisely 50%, will spend their vacation money on travel in 2023. This information was determined through a survey of 1,000 people, which is representative of employed people between the ages of 16 and 75.
The survey also reveals that a third of respondents save their vacation money to build up a financial cushion. This is particularly the case among younger people, while older people and those with higher incomes are more likely to use the money for vacation trips.
Alleviate financial burdens
Around 60% of those surveyed stated that they would like to use their holiday pay to cushion financial burdens caused by rising costs of living and inflation. Repaying debts and paying outstanding bills also play a role: 17% of participants use their vacation money for this, while 40% see the additional money as support to “make ends meet.”
The results of the survey by SN.at complement these assessments and confirm the changing use of holiday pay among the population. The trend is that younger people are more likely to save, while more experienced age groups are using more of their funds for travel expenses.
Considering the various uses of holiday pay, it is clear that it not only provides financial relief, but also shapes the lifestyle and experiences of Austrians. This wide range of insights from the survey shows how different priorities are set within the population.
