Winter holidays in Berlin: Creative adventures for the whole family!

From February 2nd to 8th, 2026, the winter holidays offer a variety of opportunities for creative activities and exciting experiences in Berlin and the surrounding area. Families with babies and small children can look forward to a rich calendar of events that offers numerous events for young and old. The offerings range from interactive workshops to imaginative play activities that stimulate children's creativity.

Particularly noteworthy is the Labyrinth Children's Museum, which becomes a “winter word wonderland” during the holiday season. In this context, visitors are invited to become active under the motto “Language as an Adventure”. Daily workshops and activities invite children aged 3 to 11 to invent fantasy words and create stories. Participation in these activities is included in the entrance fee to the “TALENTOPIA” exhibition, which ensures a high level of flexibility for visitors. The museum is open Monday to Friday between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. and on weekends from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Groups have the opportunity to register a visit as early as 9:00 a.m. in order to make particularly intensive use of the offers. Further information on bookings for groups can be found on the museum website, labyrinth-kindermuseum.de.

Diverse workshops

Various workshops are on the program as part of the “Winter Words Wonderland”. Among other things, the “Wuchbörter” workshop series for children aged 7 to 11 takes place daily from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Here they can invent their own fantasy words and record them in a large labyrinth dictionary. The museum also offers a “writing workshop” that is open daily from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. for children aged 6 to 11. Here the participants experience the language using, among other things, typewriters, sign writing and Braille, which leads to a personal profile.

Another event as part of the winter holidays takes place at TJP e.V., where creative minds can try out projects such as the “With scissors, brush and saw” series. From February 2nd to 6th from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., children between the ages of 6 and 14 can design board games, make tea light holders and solder wire figures. 3D printing of vases and bookmarks is also learned, so that the young participants can work in a variety of creative disciplines.

Fairytale experiences

A special highlight is the fairy-tale play-along event “Once upon a time…” in the FEZ-Berlin. From February 2nd to 6th, as well as on February 7th and 8th, children aged 6 and over can discover secrets and puzzles in a wonderfully designed fairytale world. Opening times are from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and on weekends from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The “Animal Work” workshop on February 4th in the Kulturhaus Insel Berlin, which aims to strengthen self-confidence by imitating animals, also promises unique experiences, especially for children between 6 and 12 years old.

A supplementary educational offer characterizes the “Safer Internet Day 2026” on February 6th in the Media Competence Center Mitte. The focus here is on AI and parasocial relationships; participants aged 10 and over can take part in prompt challenges, identifying AI bots and examining the influence of AI on online behavior.

Last but not least, the Ökowerk nature conservation center invites you to a cozy get-together around a fireplace on February 8th, where bread and tea can be enjoyed, before the treasure hunt in Königs Wusterhausen Castle for children aged 6 and over on the same day. As part of this event, participants can look forward to a guided tour through the history of the castle with thematic puzzles.

Overall, the Berlin area offers a colorful program during the winter holidays that includes both creative and educational aspects and offers families a great opportunity to spend their days off actively.
