The popular documentary series “Welcome to Wrexham” has been ordered for a fifth season by FX. This new season will focus on Wrexham AFC's debut in the EFL Championship after the club achieved three consecutive promotions. The fourth season of the series is currently streaming with new episodes airing every Thursday at 9pm on FX, followed by a next day release on Hulu and Disney+.
With each new season the universe surrounding Wrexham AFC expands and now there is also a new documentary series called Necaxa. This series is produced in collaboration with celebrity investors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney of Club Necaxa in Aguascalientes, Mexico. Eva Longoria, also a stakeholder in the club, is also heavily involved in the production. “Necaxa” will be released this summer and aims to document a turbulent and transformative era for the club and its fans.
The history of Club Necaxa
Club Necaxa has a checkered history full of instability, including relegation battles and restructuring. The documentary series will document the challenges the team faces, particularly highlighting personnel changes and injuries. This intimate perspective will offer viewers a deep insight into the emotional journey of both the players and the passionate fans who believe in a resurgence.
The filming in Mexico is intended to rekindle the soul of the club. Nick Grad, President of FX Entertainment, commented on the collaboration and the necessary support for Necaxa fans. The documentary series not only covers sporting achievements, but also the changes behind the scenes that are crucial to the club's continued existence.
